Merit Award Program
answer
The objective of MAP is to increase the employability of the individual in marketing, finance, hospitality and management fields and to develop an awareness of these areas as a career choice. The program is intended to develop a better understanding of the important of entrepreneurship, product and service knowledge, and customer satisfaction. Participants will give a 10 minute presentation at the State and International Career Development Conferences. The presentation should cover five gold level projects. The presentation will be followed by a 5 minute question/answer period.

Each of the eight Michigan districts holds a one day conference where the top performers in each category earn the right to compete at the Michigan DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC) held annually, which will be held in Detroit on March 9th - 11th, 2018

David Wait; Dave has served as the chartered association advisor for Michigan DECA at Eastern Michigan University since 1986 and has been a DECA Certified Trainer since 2012. Prior to 1986, he was a marketing education instructor at the Saginaw Career Complex. As a state director, Dave works to find new ways to connect DECA's programs to marketing curriculum. He has a degree in marketing education from Michigan State University
