While in the city, I witnessed a Securicor van parked outside Barclays Bank. As the delivery personnel entered the bank with cash packages, they failed to secure the vehicle and left it unlocked with keys inside.
As I stood in the vicinity with three other men, we cast wary glances around. The sun beamed down on us and the air was still, carrying the aroma of newly baked bread from a nearby bakery. Gradually, we assumed our designated spots. James, a towering figure at 7ft with broad shoulders, stationed himself in a peaceful alley behind the Barclays Bank.
The individual donned a lengthy, black coat alongside a black cap and shoes. On the other side of the street, Chris stood situated within a phone booth for roughly ten minutes while frequently scanning his surroundings. I occupied a spot directly facing th
...e entrance of the bank, patiently waiting for the Securicor employees to emerge. To pass the time unnoticed, I resorted to pretending to read an outdated newspaper.
Wearing my jacket, I had a microphone attached and an earpiece inserted. While pretending to read an article in the newspaper, I spoke into the microphone. Securicor staff emerged out of the bank, chatting happily with each other as they walked towards their van.
As the men approached, Chris hung up and left the phone booth. James was already prepared. Scott beckoned to them, shouting, "Can you assist us? I'm having trouble starting my car!" The delivery workers scanned the area as they continued onward. A second time, Scott yelled out, "Can you give me a hand?" But unbeknownst to the delivery men, James and Chris were tracking them like predators
James took the lead and seized both men from behind, muffling their cries with his powerful grip.
After Chris used plastic bags to suffocate two men, Scott drove the van calmly into the back alley. One of the men's pockets had the keys, which I frantically used to open the back door. I assisted Chris and James in getting the men into the back of the van. Scott donned a Securicor helmet to appear professional while driving the van. While Chris and James stayed in the back, I sat in the passenger seat at the front.
While Chris and James searched through the valuable items owned by wealthy Londoners, I asked them through the microphone about the amount they found. Their cheerful response revealed that there was over ten million worth of items, such as diamonds, rubies, and cash. We had hit the jackpot, and I felt a joyful tingling sensation in my stomach.
As I drove for about 30 minutes, I asked Scott about the remaining travel time. He sharply replied "We'll be there!" As each minute passed slowly, I checked my watch. Finally, we reached a dead end on a dimly lit street with two garages on the left and remains of three burnt cars on the right.
After getting out of the van, I unlocked the garages carefully and tried to reduce any loud sounds made by the rusty, creaking doors. One of the garages had a car that we would use for our trip, whereas the other one had a feline skeleton's remains.
The garage contained a foul-smelling, abandoned vehicle. After shutting the garage door, I joined the others. We moved the items from the
van into Scott's car and subsequently set fire to the van before departing hastily.
Driving away in the car, Scott accelerated recklessly and left a trail of dust behind. Despite feeling elated from touching the valuable money and jewels, I was aware that our task was not yet complete. Our ultimate goal was to arrive safely at Alberto's villa, where the 65-year-old and highly respected man commanded both fear and honor from all.
Over 40 years ago, he relocated to England and gained notoriety for his exceptional robberies, masterminding this particular one with perfection. Despite having a lifelong career as a thief, he escaped arrest until now. In the past, he would steal himself, but currently enlists the help of others for his illicit activities. Dubbed the 'Sly Snake,' many know him as such due to his ability to slip away from any situation.
During his tenure with us, he accomplished his most significant theft to date- taking a staggering 82 million pounds without detection. With the stakes being imprisonment or even death, failure was not an option, leaving victory as our sole possibility.
While sitting in the car, we experienced both anxiety and irritation. To divert my attention from being discovered, I drummed my fingers on the armrest. Nevertheless, my uneasiness stemmed from having concocted a scheme to trick Alberto.
Driving in silence, the tension was thick.
Opening the window helped ease it and allowed fresh air to enter.
The upcoming stunt was my most daring yet, but I remained determined to push through despite the risks involved.
I chose not to confide in Chris because of his connection with Alberto and avoided telling James due to his
close relationship with him.
Failing seemed like a worse outcome than imprisonment, considering what Alberto might do.
As I drove, I switched on the radio to create a sense of consistency. However, my passenger James protested loudly and demanded that it be turned off. Subsequently, we sat in silence until the sound of approaching sirens disrupted our stillness. The sudden noise made me feel uneasy and caused the hairs on my neck to stand up in response.
As water flooded onto my eyes and sweat drenched my clothes, I sat there with my eyes widened and ears alert like a wild cat in a sauna. Chris questioned if the cause of these sensations was coming for us.
Scott nervously replied with a tremble in his voice, "I don't know, I can't see it." Shortly after, blue lights began to flash, illuminating the entire interior of the car.
Feeling anxious, I observed as Scott drove recklessly in attempt to evade pursuers. He weaved erratically, disorienting himself. Looking behind me, I wished for the arrival of Bradley, the undercover cop who had agreed to assist me in betraying Alberto.
As I breathed a sigh of relief, I signaled to Scott with a thumbs up that everything was going according to plan. To put him at ease, I retrieved the tranquilizer gun that I had concealed under my seat during our car exchange and prepared it for use.
With fearful anticipation, I searched for the ideal moment to strike. I queried, "Are we losing them?" As Chris and James glanced backwards, I took aim and fired two precise darts from below my headrest at close range. One dart penetrated Chris's neck, while
the other struck James's shoulder. In order to prevent them from removing the darts, I leaned over my seat to restrain them both. Within thirty seconds, they were rendered unconscious. While it was not my intention to cause their demise, I could not permit them to jeopardize our plan. Alberto would hunt us down and eliminate us if he learned of our scheme.
After gesturing to Officer Bradley, he turned off the sirens and proceeded to escort us to a serene woodland region. Once we arrived, we extracted the currency and valuables from our vehicle and deposited them in the police car. As we parted ways, I left a suitcase containing approximately two million pounds inside our car, entrusting James with the keys. Although it was difficult to bid farewell, it was an imperative measure that needed to be executed.
Bradley was eager to leave and asked, "Shall we?" to which the response was, "Yeah, let's."
While I retreated to the police car, my eyes were fixed on Chris and James with obvious reluctance. The initial phase of the task had been completed without incident, but its more difficult aspect remained ahead. My goal was to implicate Alberto in such a manner that he could not pursue us. To accomplish this objective, I needed to reach out to him via phone and disclose that his money had been taken by me. Furthermore, I required a strategy for inducing him to confess as the mastermind behind the high-profile robberies. Ultimately, I aimed for his conviction and lifelong imprisonment; hence my performance needed to be flawless.
Scott planned to capture the whole dialogue, while Bradley had reserved a private plane
for our travel to Germany. From there, we would continue to Morocco via alternative transportation. Bradley's task was to confiscate the recording and apprehend Alberto. He was elated by the opportunity, as it promised him a million pounds and a distinguished position for detaining the most significant thief in history.
With Bradley's encouragement, he attempted to contact someone to let them know about his plan to take their money and leave the country in order to pursue his dream of becoming a high-ranking police officer. However, due to his trembling hands, he was unable to successfully dial the number on his mobile phone.
Assisting my left hand with making the call, I placed the phone on my lap while Scott prepared a tape recorder to record the conversation. To enable recording, I activated the loudspeaker but unfortunately, multiple attempts to reach the recipient went unanswered.
Although talking to him gave me a feeling of being threatened, I found some comfort when Alberto picked up the phone and inquired, "Who are you and what is your purpose?"
Anyone could recognize his foreign accent and deep voice. My body became completely rigid, like a statue, as I gazed down at my phone.
