Originally, our intention was to create a sense of ease among our viewers and we believed music was the most effective approach to achieve this objective. We selected two timeless songs from the past known as 'Fings aint what they use to be' sung by Max Bygrave and 'I don't want to set the world on fire' performed by Inkspots. We were confident that these melodies would contribute to establishing the atmosphere we wanted for our audience. Following this, our teacher presented us with our initial inspiration, 'The cream cracker under the settee' movie featuring Doris reflecting on her past and present life and highlighting issues that affect elderly individuals.

analysis and discussion, we were able to deepen the drama of our play by tapping into these complex emotions. We chose to focus on one character and showcase her journey through various stages of life until she reaches old age.

We documented all the topics discussed in "The Cream Cracker under the settee" movie. As there were many issues, we selected ones that were more familiar and suitable for our target audience such as old age, loneliness, weakness, vulnerability, and death. Each of us picked a topic to research and focus on.

Researching death's impact on older adults was my topic. The research pieces were combined, and we discussed how to portray these issues in our play. Our play aimed to show elderly people's attitudes towards society and the influence of media. We interviewed several elderly people and observe

By discussing their views on society's past and present, the team gained valuable insights. They chose to investigate further by using a newspaper article as a case study, specifically looking for a tragic story that involved death as an escape. All members contributed articles they found online or in print. Jodie even shared her own personal experience of living above an elderly man who had died and decomposed in his apartment for weeks, causing a terrible smell.

The discovery of an elderly man's body, after several days without anyone noticing his absence, suggests that he was alone and lacked family support; a clear indication of the issue of loneliness among older individuals. As we were researching, we stumbled upon an article on The Guardian website about a woman named Alien who had been sentenced to death in Florida for murdering multiple men. However, Alien claimed self-defense as the men attempted to rape her. This exemplifies how fear is prevalent amongst elderly people regarding assault and mortality. Consequently, our play incorporates fear as a crucial theme reflecting the challenges faced by seniors in their everyday lives - including concerns over new media technology, societal changes and ultimately death itself.

Our original plan was to create a character based on a single newspaper article, but due to challenges and time constraints, we changed our approach. Instead, we discussed several articles that addressed the themes we wanted to highlight in our play. We brainstormed ways of portraying these themes and ultimately decided on a character from the 1930s, during World War 2 when women were greatly

impacted. To gain insights into their daily lives, we visited the Imperial War Museum for further research.
