PROBATIONARY LICENSES All applicants will be issued a probationary license valid for a period of one year subsequent the last day of the month in which the application was made. The Commission will evaluate the applicant at the conclusion of the one-year probationary period and will determine if the Licensee will be renewed. In making such determination, the Commission may consider tJ1e driving record, any violations of the Taxicab Drivers Rules, or any other evidence that suggests that the driver no longer meets all requirements for a license.

The first year for a New York City taxi driver is called the probationary period and the TLC may decide that the driver does not qualify to continue as a driver if any 0 e following convictions appear on the driver's Criminal, DMV, or TLC records: • Any crime • Refusing to be tested with a Breathalyzer or other chemical test Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs • Leaving the scene of an accident • 8 points on the DMV record • 3 moving violations • 2 speeding violations • 4 point on TLC record • Two refusals violations • Two overcharging violations

• 3 or more no point violations required to attend a refresher course and will accumulate one point • 6 TLC points = 30 day suspension of TLC license • 10 TLC points = revocation of TLC license • TLC points are calculated over a I5-month period • A Persistent Violators course can reduce 2 TLC points from your license only once in 5 years.
