Veterans Affairs has continuously grown over the years.
Constantly helping veterans find their place in society. Helping them transition from the military life to civilian lifestyle. This creates patterns the VA is able to predict, letting them provide a better service to veterans. Allowing the VA to create a structured business model that is has a smooth transition for veterans. Plus, the strategy for the VA to receive payments and financial support from the government. The VA has a structural frame along with a machine type metaphor that ensures jobs are completed (Bolman; Deal (1997), Morgan, G).
Through multiple departments and various skill sets, the VA is equipped to handle legal issues, medical, and everything in between. The VA has a large number of veterans that are working, creating a environment where rules, regulations, and policies are followed (Bolman; De
...al (1997)). This type of structure enforces the machine type organization. Everyone has a job to complete, and everyone has completed training for their position (Morgan, G.). Businesses have to be able to identify where patterns arise.
After the military, veteran move into the VA system which can be frustrating and difficult. The VA has been able to increase the ease of checking into a area, decreasing the amount of wait time, reducing stress on veterans. This is additionally reducing the cost of manning, and receives all of the patient’s insurance information through automated systems (Leschke, J. (2013)).
Letting the billing department have all of current information, and bill the right people for the service provided. Budget meetings happen monthly, focusing on the time frames when the hospital is seeing more patients or less. Providing information on how to purchas
supplies for the future and staffing needs. One pattern is at the end of the physical year when people are using up the rest of their insurance, this way they are receiving care they have paid for through insurance. This lets the VA know they need to have more supplies and staff at the end of the year on call.
Business structures vary based on the size of the business. The VA design is built from the bottom up, focusing on what veterans need. In 1944, veterans were taken care of and were able to seek out treatment, but, this is when the GI Bill had items added to it like home loans (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs). Allowing for veteran’s to purchase houses with zero down through the GI Bill (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs).
Veteran’s Affairs is constantly growing because of the amount of military members getting out. Plus there are new developments from places that veterans served at. People that were in area’s where burn pits were present are developing new illnesses. The VA has created a register for those who were in those areas, that way the illness can be related to their time in the service.
The structure is focused on the veterans. Letting each department have a chief who is in charge of that department. That chief reports up to the director of the hospital. The director has total control of their hospital.
Then there is a regional director, and the top person is the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs). The government provides for the VA and the veterans. There are other agencies that donate, conduct fundraisers, and donate
to homeless. Government funds are focused for employee’s pay, and the medical supplies. Billing for veterans is based off of their percentage of disability from when they get out of the service.
Then from that percentage, there is a percent the veteran get’s billed, which goes to the insurance company. There is also the shopping area’s and canteen in the VA that sell products.
