"Glands" Is a very Informative, and Important documentary that people everywhere should watch. The narrator, Josh Fox offers several valid and intelligent points about the possible dangers of franking, and the many chemicals used in it. However, Fox is a very biased narrator, and at several points offers invalid evidence.

For example, Fox attempts to instill fear in the viewer, in his controversial scene, detailing the many chemicals used in franking fluid.

While these chemicals are carcinogens, in the movie Frank Nation," It is explained by a US Berkeley professor, that these chemicals are not harmful to humans. The professor states that millions of the chemicals In our daily lives are classified as carcinogens, but don't give humans cancer in the doses we are exposed to. Some of his comparisons to chemicals giving cancer are almost

as rash as saying one cigarette will give you terminal lung cancer.

This is evident as even experts such as Alan J.

Cricking of Resources For the Future describe his documentary as an "Unabashed and one-sided bashing of the oil and gas industry... The relatively esoteric Issue of fugitive methane gives way to some really outrageous statements. " It seems as though Fox's mall goal was not to express the truth about the oil and gas industry, but his wild claims were more directed toward creating drama.

John Hangar of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection was quoted as saying that "This movie certainly contributes to more public misunderstanding. Another key citation is the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission stating "Glands Incorrectly attributes several cases of water well intimidation In Colorado to OLL and gas developmen

when our Investigations determined that the wells In question contained boogieing methane that Is not attributable to such development. " Fox is clearly not a reliable source. Also Fox's main examples in the movie were also clearly ill informed.

They were a couple in Dimming, PA that claimed to have water contaminated by the franking industry, but after several visits from the EPA, testing their water, the water was shown to not have any of the contaminants that they claimed.

This exchange was filmed In the movie Frank Nation. Frank Nation seems to be a much more reliable documentary. It shows direct encounters with Josh Fox, and his witnesses, and instills a major sense of doubt in the character and honesty of Fox and his constituents. After watching these films, I believe that the use of franking is a great tool.

Natural Gas is the cleanest burning fossil fuel, much more environmentally friendly than Gas and Coal. It is very versatile, and can be used for many different energy purposes. Hydraulic fracturing is a necessary process, and Is one of the most efficient ways to extract natural gas from peer places In the earth. In the coming years, advances will continue to be made to make franking more environmentally friendly, and cost efficient. In these movies, each individual film is biased in their own way.

All of them contain some truth, and likely shield other truths as a means of strengthening their cases. For instance, Glands was severely biased to the anti-franking argument. In Frank Land, he is shown in an interview evidence that could dispute his case, and decides to Insult his Interviewer, narrator

is certainly biased more towards the pro franking argument. Trundled is also a pro-franking documentary, and aims to expose Josh Fox, cleverly titling the title, Rutland, playing a Joke on Josh Fox's Glands.

As I was watching these movies, the main questions that came to mind for me was whether I could trust the people making these documentaries.

Documentaries are almost a modern form of yellow Urinals. Many people would rather try to get your attention through shocking headlines, rather than tell you the truth, and it remains to be unclear the intentions of any of these narrators. I don't think that the movie Glands will change the actions of any oil companies. It has been well documented that Josh Fox constantly embellishes details about the activities of the oil companies throughout the film.

I personally think that franking is an important development in one of the most important and influential industries in the world. It seems to be more important that En are economically sound, rather than environmentally sound.

If we don't frank, we are in danger of losing our power as one of the worlds leading oil and gas industries. In other words, if we don't do it, someone else will. Franking also creates thousands of jobs. It is a major industry in rural areas of the country.

It has created an economic boom throughout several regions in need of economic support, such as Texas, Missouri, Wyoming, Colorado, and the Dakota. It has created millions of dollars in tax revenue vital to these states, and our nation as a whole.

It is also important for the Unites States to become energy self-sufficient. In

the future, resources are in danger of becoming scarce. We need to look out for ourselves before anyone else. As much as this author hates to say it, if it's not us, it's going to be someone else. We maintain franking and growing our energy economy.
