Hillary Clinton is an American politician and the first female presidential candidate of a major political party in the US. She was born on October 26th, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Hugh Rodham and Dorothy Howell. She attended Wellesley College where she majored in Political Science before attending Yale Law School and earning her Juris Doctor degree in 1973. Clinton has had a long and distinguished career as a public servant beginning with her involvement in the Children’s Defense Fund out of law school. From there she served as Arkansas’ First Lady from 1979-1981 followed by twelve years as US First Lady from 1993-2001 while her husband Bill Clinton was president. During that time she chaired the Task Force on National Health Care Reform and also worked tirelessly for women’s rights around the world through her role at UNICEF. In 2000 Hillary made history when she became one of two women ever elected to serve as a Senator representing New York State which then began her own political career outside of being associated with Bill’s presidency. As senator, she helped pass important legislation including The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which helps ensure equal pay for men and women doing similar jobs; The State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) which provides health coverage for 8 million children; The Homeowners Affordability & Stability plan which helps thousands of struggling homeowners stay in their homes during this tough economic times; And most recently, The Better Start For America Initiative which focuses on providing early childhood education programs across our country so that all kids can have access to quality education regardless of their family income or zip code. In 2008 Clinton ran against Barack Obama for President making her one of only two women candidates ever to run for President, though ultimately losing out to Obama who would become our 44th president instead. Following Obama’s election he appointed Secretary Clinton his Secretary Of State, where she traveled many miles paving new diplomatic pathways throughout different countries culminating into various peace agreements such as ending sanctions between U.S & Cuba after 50 years just to name one example among many other accomplishments like negotiating ceasefires between Israel & Hamas during conflicts involving Syria & Libya etc.. In 2016 Hillary again made history when she became the first woman nominated by a major party for President but lost out again this time against Donald Trump who won both Electoral College votes going onto become 45th President Of United States Of America . This year Hillary announced plans to launch Onward Together Organization aimed at helping progressive causes related To Democracy , Equality , Economic Justice Etc.. Despite these successes however, Clinton has been heavily criticized over the years due mostly because some people view her policies or views differently than theirs leading them not wanting any part of what they see as wrong consequently resulting it into negative press towards Hillary ; something we hope will change soon enough considering how influential personage Mrs Clinton still remains even today.
