Margot, a girl who had previously resided on Earth, relocated to Venus where she experienced an unusual climate. For a duration of seven years, Venus endured continuous rainfall and was devoid of any sunlight.
The children residing on Venus had no recollection of the sun, except for Margot who had previously lived on Earth and could remember it. The other children held a disdain towards her due to her weak physique, pale complexion, ethereal voice, and her ability to recall the sun. Scientists on Venus predicted that the sun would appear for a duration of two hours one day. On that particular day, the children confined Margot in a closet. Express your feelings about the story, including your experience, current issues, and thoughts. Personally, I am uncertain about the author's intended message but believe humans tend towards negativity. Jealousy, particularly, is a prevalent characteristic. In the story, the sun symbolizes hope and is crucial for Margot's survival. However, the jealous children strip her of this hope.
The small children accomplished this task, but the story reveals that Margot not only missed out on seeing the sun, but also lost all hope of living due to jealousy. This resonates with my interest in psychology, as I believe this story effectively showcases the human mind and lends some support to the theory that human nature is innately malevolent.
If you had to rename this story, what would it be? I have
thought of two possible titles: "The Venus' Tears" and "The Woman Who Envied the Earth". I selected these titles because Venus is often associated with femininity, and the rainy weather in the story can serve as a metaphor for her tears. Furthermore, even though Venus is recognized as the Goddess of beauty, when comparing planets, Earth is deemed more beautiful. Nevertheless, beauty is subjective and varies among individuals, which explains my choice of these titles for the story.
