Out in the world, there are many arguments about same sex marriage as well as how religion takes a big part of this decision. In an article by Scott Bidstrup, he states “the stereotype has it that gays are promiscuous, unable to form lasting relationships, and the relationships that do form are shallow and uncommitted.

” Which to be completely honest, it is not true because as gays age and mature, they appreciate their way into long-term committed relationships. There can be lots of reasons why many people oppose gay marriage.

Some of these reasons are that they state that marriage is an institution between one man and one woman, that gays and lesbians cannot raise children that their relationships are immoral, and that same sex marriage would threaten the institution of marriage. (Bidstrup, 1998) As Christians believe that gay relationships are immoral, they are not thinking that the freedom of religion implied to the right to freedom from religion as well. People oppose gay marriage because they believe that it offends everything that religion stands for.

But Christians are not the only type of religions that oppose gay marriages.

Most branches of Islam and Orthodox Judaism also oppose the marriage. These religions are thinking that they are being forced by the society by marring gay couples even when they have moral objections to doing so. They say that making love to another man betrays everything that is masculine. People opposing them assume that gay men are automatically going to hit on

them, meaning that they think that they are going to want to date them or even rape them.

Gay men know that straight men will not like being hit on by them so they will respect their boundaries because they are looking for the same thing in a relationship as straight men but with a woman instead of a man.

Gays and Lesbians have to live with the idea of everyone criticizing them, by having straight people think that they are unprofessional with mixing personal moral and religious preferences and law. They think that they are dangerous with all the standing up they have to do with the laws by going to court and fighting for their rights.

During conventions, they get the “silent treatment” by most people because they think that communicating with them can be a disease. They are made fun of, they are called different names, their discriminated against, and they are disliked because they think that gay people trying to legalize gay marriages are threatening which goes back to how they are betraying god for what was being stated in the bible.

Homosexuality is a diverse subject, as everyone seems to always worry about these types of people.

An MD from the American College of Pediatricians stated that “we have been led to believe that homosexuality, like race, is an innate quality that cannot change. ” Which is incorrect because homosexuality is not a race, it is a natural thing that happens to us. We do not chose who we get to love, it just happens like how we chose to believe in god or not. If a man wants to

marry a man, then I think that he should marry a man.

Others feel that same-sex marriage is a major threat to the institution of marriage itself.

I don't think it is immoral, but it certainly can be offensive and immoral, just like hetero-sexual behavior can be.
