Currently, culture and tradition of a nation affect the criminal justice system in various dimensions. Different countries possess varying perspectives on policing, courts and the correction system. Most of the countries are still following the traditions of the ancient ages in correcting and apprehending criminals. Some have the same policies in law enforcement. Research on policing is increasingly becoming an area of interest in the cross-cultural criminal justice system. There is a necessity to research and compare various forms of policing and corrections between Japan and China.

severe forms of punishments, particularly if they participate in counter-revolutionary political actions. Also, if the state officials realize that a particular person possesses knowledge of state secrets, harsh corrections are directed to the person. of punishments that will teach and correct the offender. The Chinese criminal justice system finds it important to punish criminals according to the traditional beliefs. The harsh forms of corrections worsen the state of the offender and create a potential for recurrent criminal activity. In Japan, the correlation between legal traditions and cultural beliefs does not exist. The Japanese political system amended its rules and regulations to include citizen involvement. As a result, it fosters good relationship between the citizens and the authorities in apprehending criminals in the community. Public participation provides an opportunity for each individual to take care of his/her neighbor leading to reduced crime rates (Ebbe, 2006).
Culture and traditional beliefs of a particular country affect the legal implications on criminals. Between China and Japan, there are fewer crimes found among the Japanese because of citizen involvement. China should emulate the legal procedures and policies used in Japan to correct criminals.
