My second similarity was that Hannah Eliezer both meet people at their respective concentration camp that briefly became their companion. In Night, Eliezer eventually meets a French girl who provides him with comfort and kindness after he was beat by the Kapo in charge of his work crew. In Devil's Arithmetic, Hannah meets Rivkah who gives Hannah some tips and helpful information on how to survive in the concentration camp. The French girl's name was never mentioned, but she and Rivkah both become companions and provide moral assistance to Hannah and Eliezer.

My difference is that in the beginning of the stories, Hannah is unsure and does not appreciate her religion r heritage. Whereas, Eliezer is sure of his religion and appreciates it. In the beginning of Night, we learn that Eliezer studies the Talmud, finds his own teacher, Moshe, to teach him further. In Devil's Arithmetic, we learn from the beginning that Hannah does not appreciate religion and is tired of hearing her relatives talk about what has happened in the past, and she does not look forward to celebrating Passover. Eliezer understands his heritage and is proud of it, hile Hannah is not.

The stories Night and Devil's Arithmetic has many similarities and differences. The journey to the concentration camps are the same for both Eliezer and Hannah, as they were for all Jews. Hannah and Eliezer both met companions at their respective concentration camps, where they learned more about how to survive, and received much needed moral support. In the beginning of the stories, Eliezer is sure of himself and
