Despite this issue, many children still consume low-nutrient processed foods that are high in calories. Therefore, it is important for parents, childcare providers, schools and community members to work together to prevent and treat childhood obesity by promoting healthy and nutritious food choices for children while also encouraging daily physical activity.

Children and adults are spending less time engaged in physical activities while spending more time sitting in front of screens like televisions or computers.

Many individuals commonly use cars for short distances instead of walking or cycling. In addition, children

are participating in fewer physical outdoor activities like hide and seek while playing more video games. Busy schedules make it difficult to prepare healthy meals, so many parents resort to fast food establishments. This unhealthy practice has led to a rise in childhood obesity rates.

The children of parents who are overweight face a higher likelihood of obesity, as they experience an energy imbalance caused by consuming too many calories and not engaging in adequate exercise.
