The farm workers forgot to feed the animals the whole day and the couldn't stand it any longer, so they broke into the store-shed. The men went into the shed and starting whipping the animals, so the animals lashed out and chased the men away. Then, all humans were off the farm.

The pigs took leadership because of their superior knowledge it was natural for them to do so.

The flag was green to represent the green fields of England, while the hoof and horn signifies the future Republic of the Animals which would arise when human race had been finally overthrown. It was made out of a green tablecloth Snowball found.

The milk and the apples went into the pig's mash. He told the other animals that milk and apples were vital to the pig's health, and without it there would be no management and organization on the farm. "It is for your sake we drink the milk and eat the apples."
