What actually brought about the rebellion?

The farm workers forgot to feed the animals the whole day and the couldn't stand it any longer, so they broke into the store-shed. The men went into the shed and starting whipping the animals, so the animals lashed out and chased the men away. Then, all humans were off the farm.
