Josh McDaniel, the head coach for one year, has demonstrated his control over player acquisition. Following Mike Shanahan's dismissal in 2008, McDaniel assumed leadership on January 11th. Within a brief period, he encountered a notable dispute with Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler. In April, Cutler and a 5th round draft pick were exchanged to Chicago in return for Kyle Orton. Despite these major occurrences, McDaniel's coaching abilities became apparent during the 2009 season as the Broncos commenced with an exceptional undefeated record of 6-0.
Despite struggling in six consecutive games and having a 2-4 record, the team ultimately collapsed in the final four matches of the season. This resulted in an overall 8-8 record. However, Coach McDaniel remains confident that he has found the solution for the upcoming 2010 season: Tim Tebow. Surprisingly, McDaniel and the Broncos chose Tebow as their 25th pick
...in the first round of the draft, despite already having capable quarterbacks such as Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn.
Additionally, Tim Tebow's limited throwing skills have been extensively documented. Throughout his four years at Florida, he heavily relied on his running abilities rather than his throwing abilities. He rarely threw the ball, only occasionally connecting with receivers such as Percy Harvin and Riley Cooper. This has been proven in various games and matchups.
During the 2009 SEC championship, Alabama emerged victorious over Tim Tebow, who publicly exhibited his emotions. It was observed that Tebow faces difficulties in throwing when faced with pressure, but nevertheless maintains a strong reputation. His rookie camp garnered attention from numerous journalists, creating surprise. In contrast, Denver disregarded their defensive line concern during the 2010 draft by choosing not to select
any defensive linemen among their initial ten picks. Nevertheless, their running game displays potential with the comeback of Knowshon Moreno, who had an impressive first season in 2009 achieving nearly one thousand rushing yards alongside Correll Burkhalter forming a formidable duo.
The wide receiver position is strengthened by a strong group of experienced players like Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Stokley. However, the team has new additions in Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker who are currently injured but expected to return for camp in the autumn. Fortunately, Denver has a favorable first-half schedule with home games against Seattle, Indianapolis, Oakland, and the Jets; as well as away games against Jacksonville, Tennessee, Baltimore, and San Francisco. It is anticipated that they will start with a 6-2 record similar to their performance in 2009. The main question is whether they can finish the season stronger than last year since it would be difficult for them to perform worse.
