As my junior year of high school began, my father who lived away from us, called my brother and I to the same room; having a conference called through he computer. We did not know why he looked so serious and worried.
I asked, "daddy, what's wrong" and he answered, "guys, your grandmother has cancer." As soon as he said the word cancer, my eyes began to tear up, but I knew I had to be strong for him and for my brother, who did not know how serious this problem was. As days passed, the news got worse, her treatments were too strong for her petite body, and her spirits of getting better where out the door. We continued going and struggling through this nightmare, we would always pray for her, and we never gave up on our
...hope of cure. Faith and Miracles are two words that are in my presented day vocabulary, never forgetting that even though she still has cancer today; she is still here with us, fighting for her life. One important goal in my life I would like to achieve would be getting through nursing school.
Become a nurse would imply saving lives and finding cures of diseases yet to be discovered. In order for me to achieve this goal, I would need to go through several challenging steps, on which I want to do without fear, and with a lot of courage. First, I would have to go to college, and get an undergraduate degree in nursing, then I would have to become an R.N, and once I completed y time and obtain my license, I would be able to
become the Nurse Practitioner I want to become. As I obtain this goal clear in my head, and strive for it, I know that at the end, saving peoples' life, like they are trying to save my grandmothers will make me realize the importance of giving back.
