The issue of gun control has become increasingly divisive and changeable.

Gun control is becoming more important in the United States due to recent events such as the Las Vegas shooting and ongoing gun violence in Chicago. The increase in gun violence has created an urgent need for immediate action and attention to this crucial issue. Statistics reveal that firearms are implicated in nearly 500,000 criminal incidents each year, resulting in over 110,000 deaths and injuries. Additionally, the lack of understanding about this issue further worsens the problem of gun violence.

We launched our website to address this information gap. It is crucial to implement stricter regulations and oversight in the sale of firearms. The strengthening of background checks for individuals seeking gun ownership is extremely important. levels in our country. The implementation of effective measures for gun control leads to a decrease in crime rates, while an increase in the availability of guns results in a surge in violence. Gun control has different interpretations worldwide, not just limited to America.

Gun control refers to the regulations of firearms for civilians, including manufacturing, sales, possession, and use. The topic is globally debated with different cultures having differing opinions on the extent of regulations. One perspective argues that implementing control measures can prevent violent incidents, accidents, and tragedies. A potential approach involves stricter background checks specifically targeting individuals' mental health conditions while still respecting citizens' rights to bear arms in the US (Federal bureau).

past tragedies. By regulating the process of informing authorities and gun dealers, it may be possible to prevent mass shootings in schools or public events.

However, with the increasing frequency of random acts of violence, there is a legitimate question regarding the right to bear arms for self-defense as granted by the second amendment. Some individuals oppose this amendment and argue against allowing everyone to possess a firearm.

Although the second amendment exists, there is a delicate distinction between self-defense and intentional violence. In California defense laws, four legal aspects are defined: imminent danger (facing the risk of being killed, seriously injured, or unlawfully touched), reason to believe threat, reasonable response (can you be charged with self-defense?).

Various situations have been observed where homeowners are facing murder charges due to extensive laws. In California, individuals cannot be accused or convicted of murder or any violent crime if their actions were taken to protect themselves or others, according to the self-defense laws. However, it is crucial that the behavior is considered "reasonable under the circumstances" (can you be charged with self-defense). Therefore, justified homicide is generally seen as an act of self-defense in most parts of America, particularly when defending against crimes such as burglary, homicide, or sexual assault. It should be noted that there have been over 29 mass shootings resulting in the deaths of numerous innocent victims who had no connection to self-defense.

This emphasizes the limitations of self-defense, as exemplified by the shooting spree in Las Vegas. Stephan Paddock, a seemingly "normal" individual, carried out this horrific act. When he entered the hotel, there were no evident indications of the imminent damage caused by this 64-year-old man.

Despite having no known history of mental illness, on October 1, 2017, Paddock broke his suite's window and started shooting at the 22,000 people attending a music event. This incident further highlights the urgent need for effective gun control.

According to the mayor's office, the frequency of murders in Chicago is concerning. Between 2013 and 2016, the Chicago Police Department seized around 7,000 guns per year. These firearms were either illegally possessed or linked to criminal activities. This amount is six times greater than the number of guns recovered in New York and twice as many as those found in Los Angeles. These instances highlight both the effectiveness of implementing gun control measures and the subsequent rise of a black market for weapons.

Gun control is a significant issue not just in the United States but also in Canada, where there exists a well-known hunting culture. The implementation of stricter policies has resulted in dissatisfaction among numerous hunters.

There is currently a contentious discussion in Canada about gun control. All individuals who own guns must go through thorough screening and complete an extensive safety course. The main concern is that many people living in rural areas have rifles and shotguns mainly for hunting and occasionally for self-defense against bears. Those protesting argue that rather than implementing stricter gun control measures, the focus should be on improving crime control. This viewpoint is shared by many individuals in America as well, although finding a resolution to the gun control debate is not always possible.

A national discussion has emerged surrounding the contentious topic of gun control, with various groups engaging in conversations about appropriate actions. One proposed measure involves expanding background

checks at both gun shows and stores. The issue of illegal gun trafficking is a growing concern that contributes to a negative reputation. Notably, lawmakers rejected a Republican alternative that aimed to strengthen mental-health reporting requirements for the federal database of prohibited gun buyers (Fawn). I strongly believe that effective management of gun control will lead to reduced violence.

Despite not putting a halt to the black-market of guns, my belief is that gun control and violence will gradually decrease with each passing day.
