Hrdy expresses worry about the future of our species. The reason is the lack of care and empathy in nuclear families where there no alloparents. It can lead to some incontrovertible social transformations in the future. The author wonders whether our descendants will still be "human", whether they will be able to feel some empathy and curiosity about the emotions of others.

The author draws our attention to such a profound and serious issue as collaborative breeding. She makes an accent on the role of alloparents in rising up the children. To my mind, such a tendency to collaboration was even crucial in the evolution of the human culture. As for the role of family in this process, it is impossible to overestimate it. Family is the background of any society; it is the guaranty of saving some blood relations and some feelings of care, empathy, and identification.
