Over the years, I have worked with many deferent people. If communication Is poor, the group struggles. As I read In the book, when communicating the goal Is to prepare for the conversations, In the case described In Chapter 7, a worker was negotiating a raise after completing his MBA.
The worker prepared for the negotiation and had done research.
Since, the worker was prepared and had discussed how he got to the negotiated salary, the manager was impressed with his research. Basically, the worker set the
...stage with the negotiation. To further expand on a negotiating salary the conversation is vital. As you mentioned in your post communication is key to the workplace.
If you are unable to communicate the deal on pay, then how will you be able to communicate with your supervisor daily?
An article I read mentioned when negotiating a salary one must take into consideration of "fitting comfortably with the corporate culture" (Mandela, 2002). If you do not fit the corporate culture, and the pay Is not what your wanting, hen It may not be the Job for you. To reflect on your post, an article mentioned "good communication Is Invaluable In the foundation level of a relationship In the workplace" (Owens, 2003).
