What is Verbs?

Verbs are one of the most powerful and versatile parts of speech in the English language. They can take countless forms, from action verbs to linking verbs, helping to give our sentences structure and meaning. Action verbs are those words that describe an activity or action, such as run, jump, or sing. These words help us vividly explain what someone is doing or what something is happening. Linking verbs are a bit different; they connect the subject to further information about that subject. Common examples of linking verbs include be (am, is, was), become, seem and look. Verbs can also be classified as transitive or intransitive depending on whether they require an object in order to make sense in a sentence. Transitive verbs always need an object after them in order for them to make sense while intransitive ones do not require objects at all; these two classifications are important when forming correct sentences with accurate grammar rules applied. Verbs come with many tenses which allow us to change the time frame of our sentences too; these range from simple present tense (I work) all the way up to perfect past progressive tense (I had been working). Changing tenses accurately gives readers even more information about the situation being described such as when it happened or how long it was going on for. In conclusion, Verbs are incredibly important tools which help writers create sentence structures that give their writing clarity and coherence; without them we would have no way of expressing action or creating tense changes within a text.
