Instead, nitrogen helps cycle nutrients through ecosystems by acting as a fertilizer for plants and aiding in the decomposition of dead organic matter into soil nutrients like carbon dioxide or ammonium ions. Nitrogen also plays an important role in regulating climate by trapping heat from the sun during daytime hours, then releasing it back during nighttime hours to maintain an average temperature range for different regions around the world. In addition to its importance in maintaining healthy ecosystems, both oxygen and nitrogen have many practical applications as well. Oxygen has long been used as a medical treatment for various conditions such as asthma or emphysema while nitrogen can be used to freeze food products or create inert atmospheres inside sealed containers when combined with other elements such as carbon dioxide or argon gas particles in cryogenic lab experiments where no oxidation occurs over time due too low temperatures inside these containers. Both gases can also be used together to produce nitrous oxide (laughing gas) which is often used by dentists during procedures requiring anesthesia or sedation of patients without causing any harm since this compound has no known toxic effects when inhaled at low concentrations over short periods of time. In conclusion , oxygen and nitrogen are two essential gases found naturally occurring in our atmosphere which play key roles within our environment.
