What is Earth?
Earth is our home and the only known planet in the universe that supports life. It is a unique planet, with its diverse species, ecosystems and landscapes. Earth is composed of many different layers and areas, including landmasses and oceans, as well as mountains, deserts and forests. The surface of Earth is divided into various types of terrain such as plains, valleys, hills and mountains. These can be further broken down into different kinds of habitats like grasslands or wetlands. The atmosphere surrounding the planet consists mostly of nitrogen and oxygen which form clouds which provide rain to the land below them. Oceans cover more than two-thirds of the earth’s surface area providing a habitat for countless marine species who rely on this aquatic environment for food and shelter among other things. Many organisms live beneath the ocean’s surface where they find plenty of resources to feed on while also using it as protection from predators who are unable to reach them at these depths. Earth also has an abundance of natural resources such as water sources, minerals, fossil fuels and timber that have been used by humans over centuries to create products or generate energy needed for everyday activities like cooking or transportation purposes. The soil holds essential nutrients necessary for agriculture so plants can grow thus providing food for all living creatures inhabiting this planet . Earth hosts many amazing phenomena such as sunrises/sunsets; auroras; meteor showers; eclipses; earthquakes; volcanoes; hurricanes etc., making it one incredible place that should never be taken for granted.
