What is Continents And Oceans?

The world is divided into seven continents and five oceans, and they are essential parts of our planet’s physical geography. Together, they make up the surface of the earth, with each playing an important role in how humans interact with their environment.Continentally speaking, these land masses can be broken down into North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antarctica. Each of these continents has its own unique characteristics that make it distinct from the others. North America is home to a variety of climates including temperate rain forests in Canada and tropical jungles in Central America. South America has lush rainforests that cover much of its terrain while Europe offers a more varied climate with cold temperatures found in Scandinavia to warm Mediterranean climates seen around the Mediterranean Sea. Asia is vast and diverse ranging from deserts in Central Asia to tropical rainforests found throughout Southeast Asia while Africa has desert landscapes along its northern regions to grasslands covering much of the continent’s interior. Australia provides diverse landscapes including semi-arid grasslands known as Outback as well as temperate coastal regions on its southeastern edge. Lastly, Antarctica is home to most of Earth’s glaciers and polar ice caps which makes it one of the most inhospitable places on our planet for human life but also one that is rich in biodiversity when compared to other places on land or sea. Our oceans are just as important for human life as our continents since over two-thirds or 70% of Earth’s surface is covered by water where resources like fish and oil can be found beneath their depths. The five major oceans are: Pacific Ocean (the largest), Atlantic Ocean (the second-largest), Indian Ocean (the third-largest), Southern Ocean (surrounding Antarctica) and Arctic Ocean (near Alaska).
