With a significantly large customer-base and employee-base, it is extremely important that the network performs at its best to provide the customer community as well as the employees with an overtly satisfactory experience. Ultimately they would like to be able to provide efficient and effective services to all employees and all customers. Verizon would allow customers to use devices, software and applications that aren’t offered by the company.With the advent of this upcoming OTN technology and given Verizon’s girth this strategy could add to the network’s appeal.

For all these to be realised, management layer inter-working will be needed in an NG-OTN multi-vendor network environment enabled with control plane capabilities.
