In today's society, people still believe in equal opportunities in various aspects such as employment, education, and the distribution of resources, among other important factors (Macionis, 2008). The pursuit of achievement and success remains a central focus for the American population today, as they highly value personal accomplishments.

The Americans continue to uphold the belief in the importance of hard work, recognizing the need for efficient and skillful execution. They also recognize the significance of progress, material comfort, and equality in the contemporary era. Additionally, freedom, democracy, science and technology, and humanitarian efforts remain essential pillars. However, there have been transformations in the concepts of equal opportunity, material comfort, and philanthropy. One example is the evolving nature of education, with a

growing focus on college education among a significant portion of the American population that was not previously targeted.

Social policy has had a detrimental effect on the American population by altering their level of material comfort. Additionally, humanitarian services have adapted to address worldwide needs. Klapp (2011) highlights five significant symbols of American culture: the American flag, the Great Seal, the Bald Eagle, the Statue of Liberty, and the Liberty Bell. These symbols play a crucial role in fostering peace and prosperity among Americans. However, an excessive focus on one's own culture can result in negative consequences (Spencer & Swanson, 2010).

The utilization of ethnocentrism can result in the oppression of one ethnic group by another, as well as fostering a sense of superiority in one ethnic group towards others.
