This time, Kino suffered severe injuries and took a man's life. Ironically, he believed he had lost the pearl, but Juana discovered it once again along the path. 4. During their absence, their hut was tampered with by someone who proceeded to completely destroy it and set it ablaze. 5. The reason they departed from the village was because Kino had killed a man. They doubted that anyone would believe it was an act of self-defense, given Kino's recent defiance of authority. Chapter 6 1. Listening to the music of the pearl and his family's gentle melody, Kino experiences a dark transformation in its tune. As he gazes at Coyotito's face, memories of the scorpion's malevolence and his distrust for the doctor resurface. Tragically, Coyotito meets a dreadful fate. The sound of Coyotito crying leads to a fatal shot from the tracker. Consequently, Coyotito loses his life. The trackers themselves do not escape unharmed as Kino kills them. Together with Juana, they carry their deceased baby back to the village.

The pearl is discarded, symbolizing Kino's abandonment of his dream and hope for a brighter future. Defeated by both man and nature, Kino and Juana's return home represents this surrender. Juan Tomas's belief is now seemingly confirmed. The "Music of the pearl" alters as Kino's thoughts and emotions towards it shift. He starts to fear losing his soul if he lets go of the

pearl.

Kino believes that giving up the pearl would mean losing his soul. He thinks of the pearl as his soul and is completely obsessed with it, putting everything else aside. His entire being and belief are dedicated to fulfilling his dream of improving his social status and giving his son an education. The pearl is the key to realizing this dream and serves as a source of hope for a brighter future. In addition to taking care of Kino and his family, Tomas assists them out of a desire to shield them from harm and alleviate some of their stress stemming from their current difficulties.

Furthermore, Tomas pities them all for what is happening. Lastly, it is part of their culture to help any family member who needs assistance.
Juana questions whether the events that followed the discovery of the pearl were an illusion because she comprehends the devastating consequences brought about by Kino finding the Pearl of the World. The world they now reside in has become unpredictable. Their dream of a better life for their son has transformed into a sinister nightmare with hidden malevolence encompassing them. What was once believed to be entirely good, the pearl is now perceived as potentially harmful.
