The movie "Fletch", starring Chevy Chase, follows the story of an investigating reporter named Erwin Fletcher "Fletch" from a Los Angeles newspaper. He poses as a beach junkie in order to uncover the drug trade and identify the mastermind behind it. While on his undercover mission, Fletch encounters a businessman who requests him to commit murder, so that the wife can receive the life insurance policy. Instinctively smelling something fishy, Fletch investigates the situation like a true professional. Throughout his journey, Fletch engages in various illegal acts and crimes, all in pursuit of the truth. Despite having good intentions, Fletch finds himself in deep trouble. The movie begins with Fletch assuming the role of an aimless druggie casually spending time at the beach.
