Many parents and children have concerns over what they should be wearing to school; uniforms simply take away the worry. According to Hannah Boyd, While private and parochial schools have long required students to follow a dress code or wear uniforms, public schools have traditionally allowed students to wear what they and their parents like. Many problems have occurred in those traditional schools that have caused the schools boards across the nation to look into the better of uniforms.
Wilde stated, “Uniforms are certainly easier for administrators to enforce than dress codes”. Gooding Elementary is a small, yet loud school, this particular school has chosen not to have the students wear school uniforms. Many districts in our local area have gained so much from school uniforms, and others have only caused so many more p
...roblems. Articlebase some students reject any rules. Forcing them to wear school uniforms only aggravates their rebellious sprit. I disagree with this statement, and disagree with our local school on the choice not to wear school uniforms.
My belief on this; is that students are resilient, change only affects them for a short time, and before one knows it they are back. My seven-year-old attends Gooding Elementary as a second grader. Even though he is only just beginning, the thought of my child wear school uniforms is great. The cost of school clothes these days has become more expensive. I worry about what my child wears to school in the event that other students make fun of him. I see that children who can’t afford what other children are wearing worry, asking themselves if what brand they ave is good enough. Procon List
Children who come from a less fortunate economic background would not appear to be “lacking” or made fun of because their parents could not afford to buy them the newest trendy garment. Children categorize themselves accordingly to what they can and can’t afford. Many parents these days are trying to buy the best for their children. I bought school clothes based on designer labels. This is the case in many families; parents are more worried about what will help their child be made fun of, or teased.
Gooding high school has a small number of students for a high school; young adults are concerned with how they look in many different ways. Debates: education if a student can't afford the same clothes as all of the other students, then they feel left out and risk the chance of being bullied by the other students. If school uniforms were in place in our local school the cost would not be such an issue for parents who, live paycheck to paycheck. Another reason students should wear uniforms is in the academics.
Students would focus more on what’s at hand rather than what they are wearing on a daily basis. Educators believe that students in uniform are more likely to focus on academics. This concept of professionalism doesn’t just exist in education; it’s why so many employers are also required to wear certain attire. If adults succeed better when wearing uniforms at work, we should see that our children will succeed better in school wearing uniforms. Now there are the cons of wearing school uniforms for both students and parents.
Individuality is a big word in children’s lives these days; it
says who they are, who they will become. Every child and young adult want to express what style they have and how it shapes their individuality. According to Jodee Redmond. Some experts believe that public education attempts to trip children of their individuality. They believe that public education does not meet the needs of children who do not fall in the norm, and that uniforms attempt to force every student into one mold. Gooding school district believes that every child should have a say in how they present their own individuality.
Although a uniform can get a bit boring for students, uniforms have more pros rather than cons to take into consideration. As my young children get older school gets tougher, and the last thing we need is for children to be worried about what they wear. When the cost goes down, academics improve and the child can express themselves in so many new creative ways.
