Criteria for Undergrad Progression

-Students must have a 2.5 GPA prior to taking NUR 209, 229, & 239 -Must have a 2.3 GPA prior to taking NUR 329 & associated courses (Fall & Spring semesters) -C+ is required for all science courses (may only repeat science courses once-policy implemented fall 2011) -C+ is required for all nursing courses, nursing courses may only be repeated once, students may only withdraw from the same nursing class once -Students can only repeat 2 nursing courses, students will be dismissed from the program after failing 3 non-clinical courses -Failing a clinical course 2 times results in dismissal

-CARP (Comprehensive Assessment & Review Program) -During senior semesters, students are required to take a 3-day pre-NCLEX seminar for NCLEX preparation -Immediately upon graduation students are required to attend a 3-day live review by ATI

Graduation of Undergrad Program

-Students must complete all core nursing programs with 128 credits & a GPA of 2.0 -Graduates can take the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensing Exams) to achieve licensure as a registered professional nurse

Clinical Attendance Policy

-Students are expected to attend all scheduled clinical days -Absence must be reported to the faculty unit & the school -Students are required to make up missed time -A fee of $150 will be charged & students are responsible to pay the fee to the Bursar prior to completing the semester

Clinical Failure Policy

-If a rating is received below the expected level for the day, the student must seek a learning contract from the instructor so remediation can be arranged -It serves as a warning to the student that there are deficiencies in their clinical performance that can jeopardize their standing in clinical

Uniforms/Student Dress Code

-Purpose: projecting an image of professionalism & enables the student to function efficiently & safely in the clinical setting -Molloy name pin -Molloy emblem sewn to the upper left sleeve -Wrist watches with a seconds hand -No artificial nails, 1/4" long nails with clear polish -Only wedding bands & small disc earrings (one per ear), no body piercings permitted -Visible tattoos must be covered -Hair must be neatly combed & off the face/collar -One pair of bandage scissors -White shoes -One pair of protective eyewear -No perfumes (for patient sensitivities)

Standard Precautions

-Healthcare workers should use appropriate barrier precautions to prevent skin & mucous-membrane exposure when contact with blood or bodily fluids is anticipated -Gloves worn for touching blood, bodily fluids, mucous membranes, non-intact skin, handling soiled items or surfaces, & performing venipuncture & other vascular access procedures -Gloves should be changed after contact with each patient -Masks & protective eyewear or face shields worn during procedures that generate droplets or blood or bodily fluids to prevent exposure of mouth, nose, & eyes (mucous membranes) -Gowns or aprons worn during procedures that will generate splashes or blood or bodily fluids -Hands & skin should be washed immediately & thoroughly if contaminated -Hands should be washed immediately after gloves are removed -When cleaning, disposing or handling needles or instruments, take precautions to prevent injuries -Needles should not be recapped, bent or broken by hand, removed from disposable syringes, or manipulated by hand -Disposable instruments should be placed in puncture-resistant containers
