Matched Book Project part 2 – Flashcards

Matched, by Ally Condie, is about a girl named Cassia who trusts and honors the utopian society that matched her with her best friend as a spouse, but soon realizes the evil of her people as she starts to fall for another boy that teaches her what the society forbids.

The main characters, Cassia, Xander, and Ky, all seem to fall into a love triangle that defies the society's wishes because Xander and Cassia have been put together to be married, but Cassia and Ky fall in love.

Ky teaches Cassia how to write, and tells her stories and poems the society has tried to hide.

My favorite character is Ky, because when he sees Cassia reading a forbidden poem he does not tell officials, he tells her that her secret is safe with him; everyday Cassia learns more about him and his story.

I can relate to Cassia because we both have been faced with tough decisions that could affect our loved ones, and we are both always learning.

I enjoyed this book, and my favorite part is when Ky teaches Cassia how to write real letters, instead of typing, because it is a lost art that has been forbidden in their society.

My least favorite part of the book is the ending since it ends with a cliffhanger, because there is a sequel.

If I could change something I would add more information about Xander's thoughts and feelings, since not much is mentioned about his situation.

I would recommend this book to many others, because it has love everywhere, but pain intertwined into all thoughts and feelings of each character.

A person interested in this book would be someone who desires to learn more about a future with utopian societies, or someone who enjoys romance and rebellion.
