A magnet is an object or device that gives an external magnetic field. It can even be caused by an electrical current.It applies force over a distance on other magnets.

Temporary magnets are ones that become temporarily temporarily magnetized when brought near a permanent magnet. if a magnet is used to pick up a paper clip, the paper clip will be become magnetized too, and it will be able to pick up another paper clip. Once the permanent magnet is removed the paperclips lose their magnetic properties.

This type of magnet is a permanent magnet only when an electrical current runs through it. the strength of the magnet is dependent on the strength of the electric current.
