Thunk! A hefty crimson hand slammed into my chin, leaving me confused and sprawled on the floor of the 7th grade boys' restrooms. The foul smell from an unemptied toilet pervaded the room. Blood leaked from my clenched fists as I tried to recover my comprehension. Slowly rising, I gingerly touched my face, striving to protect my new shirt from any stains. I stumbled towards the restroom facilities and raised the lid, only to be met with a nauseating view - a "murky mass of excrement" that would certainly earn disapproval from my English teacher.
I managed to leave the squalor behind, finding myself in a hallway where a pack of lads stared at me threateningly. Their glances suggested I was nothing more than an insect to be squashed. As I limped down the hall heading towards the cafeteria, I encount
...ered the daunting gangsters who were always impeccably dressed. Despite my numerous attempts to emulate their coolness, each effort resulted in disappointment. Moving forward, I crossed path with the alley that led to the theater room and met gazes with three of the most troublesome lads. Their shiny rings flashed right before my eyes, temporarily dazzling me with their brilliance.
As I strolled down the trail, I observed a gaggle of children engrossed in their play on the field. Their jubilant shouts were overpowering. While queuing for my meal, a band of young ones suddenly stormed through the entrance, causing quite a racket. Just as it was my turn to proceed, two big and irate boys rushed past me and shoved me aside. I nearly toppled over but thankfully clung onto a nearby post to maintain balance.
Every day brings fresh self-reflection about how I landed here and ponderings about life's purpose.
While waiting for my food delivery, I swapped plates with the service person who provided the dish that I had preordered before tending to her next patron. As I footed the bill for my meal, rag-pickers outside could be heard pleading for someone else's leftovers. Seeing and hearing them prompted me to guard my food closely and consume it quicker than anyone could utter "disappeared". Stepping into the playground left me impressed by its multicultural occupants engaged in play; this sight evoked memories from my own childhood experiences. As soon as I began walking again, heavy footsteps echoed behind me - turning around revealed those same three miscreants charging towards me.
As I glanced sideways, I noticed that everyone in the playground was intently watching us. It struck me suddenly that these three figures were infamous for their bullying and thievery behavior. This realization made me want to escape, but it was too late; they had already cornered me. They grabbed my neck tightly and checked thoroughly for any money or valuable items on me. However, all I had was a chocolate bar and a few loose coins. The whole crowd encouraged them by shouting "Fight! Kill him!" In desperation, I searched the playground for help but found none. They hauled me into the restroom and inflicted powerful blows to my ribs which later turned out to have caused cracks.
