As the video flicks to shots of the burning fuse, we notice that the streets are smoldering and shops are out of business because of the destruction the fuse has brought upon the town. Then we also notice that the teddies are starting to rise. This causes the people to ‘protest’ and start to burn the teddy bears in a bonfire which ends up burning the plastic people instead as they start to melt, this shows that the political power will always be stronger than the power of the protesters.

This angers the [government] teddies and their power in numbers increase as they start to come out of the ground and attack the plastic people and their city. Thankfully, the band is on the back of a car being driven to safety just as the teddies finish destroying the city. Because they have destroyed everything, they notice that there is nothing to rule anymore and its all too late to change what they’ve done, and because of this, they fall down and die from the regret. The music video is a narrative video mixed with a band and singer theme.

This is a combination of the two because it advertises the band while telling the story. There is a strong connection between the video and lyrics of the song as they both visually and verbally send out the same message and ideas. Throughout the song they use the word ‘they’ to refer to the government; “They’ll try to push drugs that will keep us numbed down, and hope that we will never see the truth around” refers to

the government giving us information so that we will trust them to tell the truth but then they just feed us lies to distort out vision so that we will never really know the truth.

These lyrics and meaning are all connected very well as the music video shows the exact same things, except only visually. Because the song and video is such a political affair to ponder over, the music video is aimed at people who understand the ups and downs of government. The age span varies between young adults, adults and older people. The camera is used in many ways to improve the entertainment created in the video.

It helps to emphasize things so that we feel a certain way and in this case the angles and shots used greatly emphasize on our mental reaction towards the video. Mid to Close-Up shots were used to make the teddies appear more powerful and every now and then, a worm eye angle was used to to help emphasize the feeling the teddy’s power has on the audience. On the flip side, Mid,Long And Extreme Long shots were used when viewing the plastic people. The Birds-eye angle and chosen shots were used to imply a weak feeling towards the people, to show their weaknesses towards the teddies.

The video focuses on all these characters and emphasizes on all of them equally; Band,Teddies And People. The video takes place mainly in the city and shows few shots of the outside of the city, this creates an atmosphere that is real yet unreal at the same time and makes you feel unfazed yet concerned, depending on your understanding of the video.

The main eye catcher is probably the idea of teddy bears gaining power and becoming destructive and hurting us because people usually grow up being so close to them as kids.

This music video attempts to create an understanding of politics and how we are controlled by it. It also expresses that we can come together as one to rise up against our problems. That point was shown in the good combination of music, lyrics and video. It affected it’s target audience and drew attention to the band, which were viewed as a group concerned of it’s society and everyone in it. It was a great Music video and sent out a good message towards modern day society.
