. I’m going to make a 9 inch cake. You will need 3 cake pans of the size you choose. The first step is baking the cake. You can choose to either buy a package of cake mix, or to make your own cake. First you need to preheat the oven. Most cakes call for 350 degrees. Now get two of your pans out and butter, or spray them. To ensure the cakes won’t stick you can always sprinkle some flour on the top of the butter. Now your pans are ready. In order to prepare a cake batter you will need some ingredients. You will need to combine the dry ingredients: 2 cups of flour, ½ a teaspoon of salt, and 2 teaspoons of baking powder.
After you’ve finished with the dry ingredients blend together 1 cup of sugar, 3 teaspoons of
vanilla, and ½ a cup of butter. Beat in 3 eggs to the sugar combination. Now add the dry ingredients you mixed earlier into the sugar combination. Last pour in ½ a cup of milk and continue to mix until it is thoroughly incorporated. Divide the mixture into the two prepared cake pans. When you place the pans in the oven make sure they are spaced at least 2 inches away from each other. The cakes should bake about 25 minutes. When the cakes are done let me fully cool off before messing with them. While the cakes cool off it is time to move onto the next step which is to prepare the ice cream. You may choose whatever kind of ice cream you like. I chose neopolitan ice cream. Take the third 9 inch pan and place it in the freezer for approximately ten minutes.
While the pan is in the freezer ser the ice cream out to thaw it should be soft but not runny. Take the pan out of the freezer and line it with plastic wrap then fill it with ice cream. Cover the pan with foil and place it back in the freezer for about an hour. Now it’s time for the third and final step assembling the cake. Remove the pan from the freezer. Place one of the two 9 inch cakes on a serving platter. Take the ice cream out of the pan and place it on top of the first cake. When placing the ice cream make sure the edges of the cake and the ice cream line up. Now put the second cake on the top
of the ice cream. Your ice cream cake is now assembled. You may choose to frost the entire cake.
If you choose to frost it you will need to cover the entire thing and place it in the freezer for approximately two hours so the ice cream can harden. There are some other things you can add to your ice cream cake if you would like. Some people choose to place fruit in between the ice cream and the bottom layer of cake. You could also use whipped cream to replace frosting which would make it fewer calories. Lactose intolerant individuals can substitute sorbet for the ice cream. This is a classic dessert dish. It’s time consuming but very simple to do. If you like ice cream and cake this is an excellent dish for you. I recommend trying this method and testing it out. It took me a couple of tries before I got it down. Needless to say I’m also a baking and pastry student so maybe that makes me a little blind to the difficulty. If you try this at home good luck and I hope you enjoy.
