In a large white church filled with numerous members, Steve Scoggins, the preacher at First Baptist Church of Opelika, delivered his message. Welcomed by warm smiles and handed the church bulletin, my family and I took our seats in the balcony, as is our usual routine on Sunday mornings. Together, we sang hymns and songs and recited the Lord's Prayer before Pastor Steve began his sermon on an early morning dedicated to Father's Day. The weather was delightful, adorned with a few clouds scattered across the sky as he spoke for approximately thirty minutes to an attentive audience comprising individuals of all ages.
