Eating healthy food is essential for maintaining physical and mental health. Healthy foods are those that contain a variety of nutrients, including proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals in the right proportions. Eating healthy helps maintain a balanced diet which provides the body with all its nutrient needs to function properly.A good way to ensure one is eating healthy is by following an eating plan that includes ample amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals while vegetables provide many important nutrients, such as vitamin A, calcium and iron. Lean meats such as fish or poultry offer higher amounts of protein than red meat does, making them better choices for overall nutrition. Whole grains like brown rice also provide important sources of fiber, B-vitamins and essential fatty acids needed for energy production in the body. Low-fat dairy products such as milk or yogurt can be included to help meet daily calcium requirements; both low-fat varieties contain no added sugar or saturated fat compared to full-fat versions. Including nuts and seeds in the diet can add beneficial monounsaturated fats which have been shown to lower bad cholesterol levels while increasing good cholesterol levels in the blood stream. Additionally they are great sources of plant based proteins along with other micronutrients like magnesium which plays an important role in over 300 bodily processes including digestion metabolism muscle relaxation and blood pressure regulation among others . Lastly legumes beans lentils chickpeas etc should always be on hand too since their high fiber content helps keep us full longer this means that we consume fewer calories throughout the day leading to weight loss or maintenance .
