Conflicts are more common than not in this day and age. You can have a conflict in a work or school environment over anything. In order to fix most conflicts there has to be an open communication. Lack of communication can cause more problems than fix them. Since Greg does not want to talk to me, I’ll start by sending him an email stating that I did not understand what I did wrong. I would like him to email me back to let me know what was going on.

Then if I did not receive an email from Greg, I would then try him by phone and leave a message if he did not answer my call. If he did not answer that message, then I would try and talk to h

im in person again. In person I would start off by saying, “I know you do not want to talk with me, but since we are co-workers on the same team I find it difficult to work together with this lack of communication. We really need to be able to communicate for the sake of the team. So please, just hear me out. I would just like to know what I did wrong.

If I knew what I did wrong then maybe I could fix it, make it better, or even have our boss take me off the team so that we do not cause problems at work with the rest of the team members. ” Then after that I would hope he would communicate to me what the problem really was. This way we could both resolve the problem

at hand and make it better for ourselves and everyone in our team. In the past when I was at a team meeting for the place that I worked, a co-worker and I had a disagreement. It all started out when she interrupted me while I was speaking in front of the group of cashier’s.

I was addressing what was expected of all of us during the busy holiday season and at first she was like “Why do you get to tell us what to do”, and I said, “The manager put me ahead of the cashier’s for this busy time of the year and I am just trying to make this go as smooth as possible”. The next thing I know she said, “That this is not right and she wants to speak to the manager right away. ” I then replied that is fine, but after we finish this meeting that we are having. I told her outright that it was very rude for her to just interrupt me like she had and that there was really no need for that at all.

I had been side tracked from the meeting, so I had to gather my thoughts and my notes and start the meeting all over again, but I had my mind made up that if she were to interrupt me again I will ask her to leave. After, I spoke my peace and got through the meeting. Luckily no other interruption got in the way of our team meeting. The best thing to do in this kind of situation is to remain calm and not lose your temper by

any means. I know that this can be hard to do, but if you are a leader in a meeting you need to set a good example if you let things get out of control.

Then again, I know there are some situations that cannot be controlled and before you know it there can be a heated argument right in front of you. Then in that case there needs to be an assistant manager in the room while this meeting is going on for the safety of all team members involved. In order to handle this kind of a conflict you have to work together. At the same time make sure that the co-workers are getting their needs met. You can ask each one of them while going around the room to give their opinions on things that matter to them, that they would like to see put in place.

This way everything should be better and be open for discussion. It is important that this is done so that everyone has a voice and gets there points across. Communication may be the most important ingredient in any working relationship, in fact, it is not hyperbole to say that this one act may make or break any working environment. Even in the best of circumstances, you can see how a simple act of miscommunication can thoroughly ruin a project, a best laid plan or even derail an entire business venture.

A simple way of communicating this is to say that any of the above mentioned acts from side bar conversations which take certain people out of the conversation, to disrespectful comments that

can drive a wedge between employees working relationships can have a totally negative effect on a working environment and team unity. For the best results, a set of rules must be held, although not universal, they can be said to be the driving force behind having a positive working relationship with fellow employees or having one that can be said to be barely held together by the thinnest of tape.

Simple conflict control can be the first in any set of rules in keeping problems between a team down to a minimum. Problems seem to get out of control between co-workers because they have been allowed to fester and grow and soon the situation is totally out control. When a problem arises, nip it in the bud, stop an issue before it becomes an issue. Talking about the problem and not around it is the key to conflict resolution. Another rule could be in a working environment never allowing personal feelings to take over.

Do not let after the job activities become part of the team cohesive. A good way of looking at this is to be friendly at work but not to be friends. We are very social creatures and nothing can tear apart a business relationship like a personal one. This leads too many of the problems mentioned above like side barring, intimidation and non participation. The last rule is to hold the dynamic that works, if you have a winning routine, go with it. If there is a certain way to cure problems, increase production, shrink waste and increase team support, run with it.

Changing directions in the middle

of success is the surest sign of disaster. In all likely hood, all you will succeed at is destroying what makes you a winning team. These learning team assignments may be a bit tricky as we all have a different attitude when it comes to taking care of problems and difficulties at the work place. The best all around answer is to never allow personal feelings or passions to take control of you no matter what may be the scenario. Always look at it as, “it's just a job, that’s all. ”
