Comparing the ways in which the concepts of God, Person, Environment, Health and Nursing would be defined according to Colossians 1.

God

God is our creator and our father. He is the father of Jesus Christ, who is our Lord. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and taken us to the kingdom the Son he loves, Jesus Christ. God is unseen, and he is the maker of heaven and earth, of what is seen and not seen. God did send his son to save us from our sin. Glorious in might, in Christ, he was pleased to dwell in his fullness.

Person

He is a creation, from Christ, who is the firstborn of all creation, the person was created together with all things, in heaven, and on earth, whether visible or not visible, whether thrones or dominions and rulers or authorities. All

things were created through him and for him and through him all things hold together (Franklin & Davis, 2012). The person is a qualified saint allowed to share in God’s inheritance with the saints. The person was once alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, but has now been reconciled in Christ’s body of flesh by his death, to be blameless and above reproach before God. The person is made in God’s image, though sinful and integrated being, he was loved and converted by God’s grace through the dying of his son.

Environment

Everything is made by God. God fashioned this earth and heaven as well. All things are made through Jesus Christ, who is the leader of the body, the church. He is the foundation, the firstborn from the deceased. The environment is part

of creation, including that which is seen and not seen.

Health

God created the person to live in the environment and to live in Shalom or peace. This aspect of peace is more to do with health or the state of wellbeing the person is supposed to enjoy. God has allowed the man to live in harmony in a God-centered person society with a consideration of physical, psychosocial and spiritual well-being (Franklin & Davis, 2012).

Nursing

Nursing promotes symphonic interaction between the environment and the person for the realization of health potential. Nursing works hand in hand with peace among human beings and the community. Nursing is a compassion ministry responsible for the care of the whole person in response to the grace of God, which aims to foster optimum health (peace) and bring comfort in suffering and death. Nurses are moved with compassion driven by God’s love, which first was manifested to us and gave us the gift of salvation.
