The challenges hinders the efficiency and effectiveness of their academic performance of the new students. Additionally, the students may develop negative attitude towards college life. The existing students should bear the role of motivating the fresh students. They should be nurtured in accordance to college rules and regulations. They college staff and administration should organize orientation and warmly welcome the first year students.
The social immoralities associated to colleges should be an issue of concern and caution to the fresh students. Risky areas and paths such as lonely and dark streets are prone to cases of rape and thus the new students should be aware. The drinking spree culture should be ad

The order of ideas is a strategy used by the author to capture the attention of the reader. The ending, the leads to the next idea and the transition of the ideas holds the attention of the reader.
The voice used by the writer to express personality, the selection of words and phrases are techniques used by the author to make reader read like a writer. The
fluency of sentences with rhythm and flow of language captures the attention of the reader. The use of conventions such as grammar and punctuation marks makes a reader read like a writer.
First year college pupils articulate anticipations in relation to college life long before they join. The students look forward to college life, enthusiastic to experience adventure and extra freedom. Others are passionate initially only to discover that the experience decreases short of their hopes when they do not feel comfortable, happy or secure in their different environment. The transition from high school to college is a period of mixed emotions for the first year college students. It is the responsibility of the old students to welcome, encourage and caution the fresh students about the college life. Furthermore, the female students stand greater chances of sexual victimization when drunk. The fresh students should be cautioned on the aftermaths of the drinking culture.

This will help the fresh students as readers to agree or disagree with the author and if the reader disagrees, he or she replicates in their way of writing. The reader will be rhetoric on what the author wants to put across, how to reveal the theme, what details the author uses and how the choice of ideas affects the reader. The technique of expressing
the ideas makes the reader do it like a writer.
The authors uses the organization of the ideas as a strategy to make the reader read like a writer. The order of ideas and the leads used by the author draws the attention of the reader. Additionally, the voice of the writer to express his or her personality captures the concentration of the reader. The choice of words and the phrases by the author urges the reader do it further. The use metaphors, similes and rhythm in sentence fluency holds the concentration of the reader. The conventions used by the author, for instance, grammar and punctuation marks creates interest to the reader. Consequently, the above techniques used by the author makes the reader read like a writer.
To sum it up all, fresh students have various expectations before the transition period from high school to college. The obstacles the new students face include homesickness, trauma, depression, anxiety and difficulty in sleep. The old students should encourage and motivate the fresh students. The first year students should be oriented in a style and this makes them feel part of the entire college fraternity. Necessary caution is essential to the first year students for them to avoid temptations and rude company. Lonely and dark streets are prone to rape and other crimes and hence the fresh students should be aware.
