Realizing the prerequisites for college admission, individuals clung to their aspirations and acknowledged that acquiring advanced education was paramount in attaining success. College education's quality is under threat because society desires to send as many students as possible to higher learning institutions. This has overwhelmed colleges and universities, causing a decline in education quality. Additionally, the high costs associated with college education have driven numerous students to enroll over the past two decades, despite largely unnoticed efforts to make it more affordable. Consequently, there is an excess of graduates entering the job market, leading to increased unemployment rates from an American perspective. Similar trends are observed in other countries as well (Hacker, Andrew, and Claudia 89). While college education holds immense importance in American society, its expense deters many individuals due to costly student loans.

Moreover, individuals who choose this path may discover that the repayment plans are expensive. In the United States, there have been conversations about the financial hardships linked to student loans. Some individuals go as far as claiming that higher education is a privilege. Regarding post-graduation employment, studies have uncovered a different truth compared to what many Americans believe. Recent research shows that an astonishing 53.6% of young American college graduates do not have a job (Associated Press 1). This data specifically focuses on individuals aged 25 and under.

According to Bruni (1), the unemployment or underemployment of American graduates is not caused by a lack of job opportunities in the market. Instead, it is the competition from highly qualified individuals from other

nations that contributes to their unemployment. Consequently, American colleges now advise students to concentrate on lucrative and marketable programs as a means to enhance their competitiveness (Banchero 1). Thus, pursuing less marketable college programs is one of the primary reasons for high student unemployment rates. Furthermore, the issue arises from a mismatch between the skills demanded in the job market and those acquired in college.

The American College should improve the quality of its education because high unemployment rates are connected to overeducated graduates having unrealistic expectations. This causes a gap between job opportunities and employers' preference for less educated individuals. However, this is not the main cause of unemployment for college graduates. The job market is extremely competitive, so students must choose their program wisely to have an advantage. Research shows that mentally stressful situations and health issues arise for unemployed college graduates who had ambitious goals when they began college ("CEW Georgetown N.P").

Highly ambitious individuals may become easily distracted by failure, which can lead to viewing themselves as failures in society and losing hope for a better life. Unemployed college students face financial difficulties, particularly when they spend a significant amount on costly student services, ultimately decreasing their happiness and causing them to feel rejected by their communities due to unemployment. Additionally, the high unemployment rate among college graduates negatively impacts economic growth nationwide.

Unemployment has multiple negative effects, including reduced productivity and limited innovation opportunities. Moreover, the increasing number of jobless graduates can demotivate current students who anticipate a brighter future after college. This situation might even dissuade prospective students from pursuing higher education due to the belief that it is an unnecessary expenditure.

poses a significant risk to the success of college education, endangering the progress made thus far. In summary, college education is a crucial accomplishment in life. Nevertheless, the most important aspect is acquiring the appropriate skills and expertise. Consequently, it is highly beneficial to ensure that it is accessible to all through implementing effective strategies that enhance both accessibility and quality. The high unemployment rate among college graduates is a matter that society and the government should contemplate.

Addressing the devaluation of college education is crucial, as it is a significant factor. It is essential to recognize the value of money spent on tuition fees, particularly during job searches. Moreover, it is important to distinguish between the uneducated and the educated in society to maintain respect for college education.

However, despite the fact that the system of education contributes to the large numbers of unemployed graduates, students should major in building their skills that can help them create self-employment after studies. This will profoundly help in the creation of employment for others too hence contributing to the building of the society and the nation in general. It is only through this approach that the value for the amount spent in college education will be realized and the imperils linked with it dissociated.
