In a business process, a person, group, department, organization, or information system.

A function in a business process that receives inputs and produces outputs. An activity can be performed by a human, by a computer system, or by both.

Is a collection of data that is stored within the business process.

In a business process, collections of activities.

A BPMN symbol that documents the sequence of action among business process activities.

A type of business process diagram. Like swim lanes in a swimming pool, each role is shown in its own horizontal rectangle. Swimlane format can be used to simplify process diagrams and to draw attention to interactions among components of the diagram.
