Selena was born April 16th 1971. (Easter Sunday). Selena weighed 5lbs 10 1/2oz at birth.She was born Freeport Community Hospital in Brazosport,Texas.

Selena was born in Lake Jackson, Texas. A small town about 55 miles from Houston. (Suburb to Houston)

Selena grew up as the youngest child of 3 to Marcella and Abraham Quintanilla in Lake Jackson, Texas. Born and raised. A small town about 55 miles from Houston, Texas. She grew up as a very happy and cheerful little girl, who loved to sing her heart out.Selena also grew up a little bit in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Father of Selena, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., full Mexican and was the first to notice her amazing singing talent.Mother of Selena, Marcella Quintanilla, half Mexican and half American cared and loved for her children with all her heart. Always put everyone else before her.

As a child, Selena was upbeat with a big smile and constantly cheerful. Selena started to sing non-stop at the young age of 3. At the age of 10, she became the lead singer of her family's band, " Selena Y Los Dinos". Selena exercised maturity and respectfulness when in the company of adults, always addressing them with "Yes/No sir/ma'am." She grew up speaking English but her father taught her to sing in Spanish so she could resonate with the Latino community. As Selena in school she, "tried really hard at whatever she was doing and was eager to learn - the kind of student you always like to have," Selena's first grade teacher, Nina McGlashan recalled.

Born with the Name Selena, suggested by the nurse in the small hospital room while her mother, Marcella held her close in her arms. She also doesn't and never had a middle name. The name Selena comes from the words "Selenite" and "moonstone". Her nickname was "Preciosa"- which means beautiful, spirited and wonderful. Some people called her 'Sel' for short.Born with her name 'Selena Quintanilla' changed when she and her fiancé said their "I Do"'s ,April 2, 1992 to Chris Pérez. When she got married she kept her maiden name but also took Chris' last name as well. Her now name was Selena Quintanilla-Pèrez, but to the Latino Community, she was the 'Mexican Madonna'.

Older Brother on bass, big brother to 2 little sisters, A.B.(Abraham) Quintanilla (Abraham the third) was the oldest out of the 3 born December 13 1963. He wrote songs as well as producing them. Second oldest child of the 3 is, Suzette Quintanilla. Suzy was her nickname to family. Little sister to A.B. but older sister to Selena, born June 29th 1967. Suzette was Sel's best friend.

As we know, Selena was born Easter Sunday, that leads to her hobby of collecting eggs. No, not just eggs that you cook! Easter eggs! Selena's hobbies were about normal then anyone else's. She liked to go shopping, out to movies or even just hanging out with some friends, simple as that, though of course her favorite hobby was to sing! She also loved pulling pranks!

Selena attended Oran M. Roberts Elementary School in Lake Jackson and West Oso Junior High in Corpus Christi, where she completed the eighth grade.In middle school Selena was asked to try out for the cheerleading squad but because of her touring with the band she didn't have time for it.

Selena went to high school through the American School in Chicago, a correspondence school for artists. It was always very important to her to get a high school diploma. Education was always important to her as well.

Quintanilla graduated from high school in 1989 from American School, a correspondence school for artists . Soon after, she started looking at colleges. She was always very eager to learn and go to school. She always said there was something more to learn.

Selena was looking at colleges right after she graduated high school. Education was a important thing for her. Selena Took college correspondance courses at Pacific Western University in California. She also went to California Miramar University. In high school and middle school Selena was always being pulled out because of her always being on the road and busy with singing.

Selena graduated college with a Business administration degree.She wanted a business administration degree due to the fact that she wanted to open her own boutique shop. In 1994 she graduated college and opened her first shop.

Selena was not tutored. She did go to school, however, she was being pulled out a lot due to the fact that she was always on the road and busy with music. Although in the end, Selena graduated from high school, and college without a problem.

Selena was not home schooled. She couldn't have been homeschooled anyways due to the fact that she was so busy with music and she had already been to regular school. She didn't have time for a lot, however it could've been an idea to have her home schooled since she was always being pulled out of regular school.

Her father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. taught her everything she knows. Abraham taught her how to sing Spanish, and speak Spanish. Selena is very close with Abraham. Abraham found out about Selena's singing talent when she was just 6 years old. Abraham is Selenas biggest fan. Selena and Abraham have been through thick and thin together and nothing could've torn them apart. From the time when Selena was just a little girl, she has always been a daddy's girl. Selena was a weak spot for Abraham, all his kids are. Even though sometime he could have been a little tough on his little star, Selena for her singing talent, he just wanted the best. Selena would say her dad is her hero, coach, teacher, mentor, but most of all just her dad. She loved and cherished every moment with her father.

Selena was friendly with everyone. Her fans were family and strangers were friends. Selena married Chris Perez in 1992 behind her family's back. Her and Chris first said 'I love you' in a Pizza Hut. Selena's family had liked Chris until he invited some friends over not knowing they would trash the hotel room and destroy everything in it. Later on they worked everything out and welcomed Chris to the Family. Her best friend and sister is her sister Suzy. They have always had a great relationship between each other, they always had some inside joke to crack. Selena said she couldn't be where she is today if she didn't have her sister with her. Abraham, Selena's father was probably the closest to her. Even though Selena married a man behind his back, he forgave her and she was still his little girl. Selena and her dad have gone through thick and thin together but nothing could've ever torn them apart. After every show, Selena would run backstage and ask her dad how she did. Selena wasn't as close to her mother as she was with her father. Yes, she did love and cherish her mother but she was just a tad bit closer with her father.Her mother Marcella was Selena's biggest fan along side her father. She supported Selena in everything she did and was there for her whenever she needed her mom. Marcella was big on Selena's fashion, she supported it very much. She would be the one to help Selena with designing the clothes.

Selena did not have children. Chris and Selena were planning to have children when Selena's career slowed down a bit and she wasn't on tour as much. Selena dreamed of having 5 kids one day. She loved kids. Since she couldn't have kids just yet, so this lead her to get 5 dogs instead. Later on Selena and Chris planned to have a baby. Chris and Selena didn't have a by just yet because Chris was worried about her being on tour while she was pregnant. Even though he would've been with her at all times, he didn't want to have something go wrong.

A lot of things were an impact on Selena's life. Getting big and famous was the biggest impact on her, her whole world would change. Her biggest fear was that nobody would show up to her concerts. Selena was the first Mexican star to get big. Her husband, Chris Perez affected her life due to the fact that he changed the way she saw love. She thought love was the thing you see in movies but later on when she met Chris, she knew it was something different and real. Not much really brought down Selena. If she was having a bad day, she would've still had that big smile on her face and wouldn't of let it bother her.

"Always believe that the impossible is possible" Selena would tell her self before every show, before she went to sleep or even if she was doing something different. Her famous quote means you can do anything you out your mind to. When Selena would explain this quote she always said you can always find a way to do the impossible. She also said she didn't like the word impossible, because it wasn't true, you could do anything you put your mind to. Selena's quote is very inspiring and determined. Selena was very determined to do anything. "All this is a dream to me.Everything, the fans asking for pictures or a autograph, the applause, the trips, it's all a dream" this quote by Selena Quintanilla means she was so overwhelmed and grateful for what her career had turn into. Selena never had a bad things to say about her job, none the less be ungrateful. Selena had never refused to take a quick picture or give an autograph. Her fans were Family and strangers were friends. She couldn't believe it, it was all a dream to her, she was finally living her dream.

Selena is famous for numerous amount of things. Selena is famous because of her singing, her fashion style, her boutique and for being her self and not having a filter. Selena was one of the first of the women in that time to get big, Latinos always called her the 'Mexican Madonna' or the 'Tejano Queen'. Selena was noticed for her fashion due to the fact that every outfit her and her band wore on stage was designed by her. She designed a lot of clothing, a lot of her clothes she liked to make, sometimes it would be a jacket or a sparkling bra she wore on stage. This is when she finally opened up a boutique, continuing to become even bigger. Selena became famous from starting from the bottom, when "Selena Y Los Dino's" first started out,they had just started to sing at restaurants and weddings, nothing more. Later on Selena grew more and more of a voice, after every show, she was getting better. Next thing you know they are touring everywhere by the time Selena was about 15. The more and more shows she did, the more people wanted to know about her, the more girls wanted to be like her, and the more guys wanted to be with her. She inspired girls. Once in an Interview the interviewer asked how she keeps her figure, she said she doesn't exercise nor go on a diet. She eats 3 times a day most of the time it's Pizza! She showed girls how to be their selfs and love your self. Selena Quintanilla was a inspiration for a lot of people.

Selena was nominated for 81 awards, with 66 wins. She won 36 Tejano Music Awards 13 Billboard Latin Music Awards,10 Lo Nuestro Awards, five BMI Awards and one award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. In 1995, Selena was inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame.The Spirit of Hope Award was in Selena's honor in 1996,and was awarded to Latin artists who participated in humanitarian and civic causes.By 1998, Selena and Proyecto Uno were the first artists to have won a Billboard Latin Music Award in two different genres.

Selena was successful was her boutique that she had opened in 1993. All of the costumes/outfits that were won by people on stage, everything, was deigned by her. He father, Abraham one said she only wanted to open a boutique just so she could get her nails and hair done for free all the time, but of course he was joking. Selena loved fashion and clothing as much as singing. Quintanilla was also the first Mexican-American to make in big in Tejano music.

Selena Quintanilla apart from her horrible death story, she was famous for being to the 1st Mexican-American woman to make it big in Tejano music industry. She also managed to cross over in some respects before her.Selena is known for some bussnies too, she has a Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas, which is up and running. Along with her no longer in service boutiques. April 12 is 'Selena Day' in honor of her former U.S. President George W. Bush

Selena Quintanilla-Perez passed away 19 years ago on March 31st, 1995 in Corpus Christi,Texas.

Soon after Live's release, Selena went to work on an English-language album that she hoped would put her on the top of the U.S. pop music charts. Unfortunately, she did not live to see its success. Selena died on March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas, after being shot with a .38-caliber Taurus revolver by Yolanda Saldivar, the founder of the Selena fan club. Saldivar had been managing Selena's boutique in San Antonio, and was about to be fired for embezzling money. Selena's murder sent shockwaves through the Latino community, and her fans around the world mourned the singer's passing. Selena had agreed to meet up with Saldívar at 'Days Inn' room 158 (now 150) in Corpus Christi, to get financial papers for tax purposes. When Selena demanded the papers, Saldívar stalled and had started telling Selena how she had been raped in Mexico. Being the kind person Selena was, she had rushed to the hospital for Saldívar for being raped. After the check, Doctor said there was not one sign of rape. Selena and Saldívar drove back to the Days Inn hotel where Selena had once again demanded the papers. Without getting a reply or the papers, Selena started to walk away. While she was walking away Yolanda pulled out her .38Caliber Taurus revolver from her purse and shot Selena in the back. Selena ran to the lobby trying to call for help while Saldívar ran after her calling numerous amounts of bad words.Before Selena died in the hospital from blood loss and cardiac arrest, she was able to name Yolanda Saldívar and the room she was in. R.I.P. Selena.

There are controversies in her Death but the biggest is when Selena was in the Hospital, the Doctor had come out to tell Abraham and Marcella Quintanilla, the parents of Selena that they were going to give her blood transfusion, but her father said no, that's not what Selena would've wanted. Later on, Selena died of blood loss and cardiac arrest. Now IF the blood transfusion would've worked Selena could have maybe possibly died and IF he father said yes things could have gone different.
