Does social media has an effect on children academic performance? Yes

In this contemporary era, the world is like a global village since everybody is connected to one another via the highly trending social media sites. These social media platforms include Twitter, Facebook, blogs, Digg, as well as, other sites whose content is based on the user participation. However, these platforms have horrible impacts on the important academic performances, as most students often find themselves using them during their class hours hence lose focus on their studies. Social media platforms have contributed heavily to extreme harm than good on the student’s academic performance, for instance, when students are studying or looking for study materials online, they get fascinated to these sites to kill the monotony hence end up diverting their concentration from school work.

Social media has an immense effect on student’s academic performance since it leads to reduced learning as well as research abilities. A significant figure of children in schools has begun to rely heavily on information available on the social media sites thus contributing to reduced morale in learning. Many students exposed to the social media use slang words to chat with their friends or send any form of a message they want. Students who are incredibly used to distinct social media platforms rely on the availability of information they get from the sites generally to provide answers for their homework. Thus, this makes them end up having reduced focus on their studies as well as retaining information within themselves at their final exams thus resulting in poor academic performances. A multi-tasking is an option adopted by students while studying to check trending issues on their social media sites, and thus end up performing poorly in school. Social media play a great negative responsibility by putting several students in danger through broad exposure to explicit content. It is comprehensible that social media distractions have immense potential to lure the student’s attention, and this contributes awfully to poor academic performance levels.
