Paragraph 1: "The boy's name was Andy and the name was delicately scripted in black thread on the front of the jacket, just over the heart. Andy."

At the beginning of the short story the reader is aware that Andy is a member of a gang. It is apparent that he is proud of the fact as the words delicately scripted demonstrate that he has taken time and care to sew his name on the jacket. Also, the fact that his name is sewn just over his heart shows his loyalty for the gang.

The person that stabbed Andy said that it also shows that it wasn't Andy that got stabbed it was the jacket that got stabbed.

Andy wishes that the drunk man would call the cop but the drunk man decides to be nice to Andy and not call the cop because he doesn't realise that Andy is hurt, he think's that Andy has had a few drinks.

The couple are scared that he is a royal. They believe if they help him then the Guardians will be after them.

The cop know's that this was a gang crime and after seeing the Royals jacket he doesn't bother investigating what happened and what the boy's called. Instead he writes "A Royal" in his book.
