The cold wind blew through the branches of the large oak tree, creating a shadow over the lifeless body lying at its base. The group found the boy's death amusing, believing it to be a joke. They laughed as he squirmed in pain. The boy, who was intelligent and overweight, lay on his bed with fresh tears staining his face. Meanwhile, I gazed out of the dusty window while the camp bus jolted along the narrow, winding road.

Stumpy white trees lined the road like fence posts, indicating that we were deep into the wilderness and had not seen houses or farms for a long time. The bus had hard black plastic seats, causing us to bounce off them whenever it hit a bump. This led to laughter and shouts from everyone onboard.

mp on the bus. I sat next to a boy who had the window seat and resembled a bulldog with his chubby face and arms and legs.

He had short, waxy black hair that he frequently scratched, and was dressed in grey shorts and a sleeveless white shirt. His limited speech led me to believe he was introverted or extremely nervous. What struck me as peculiar was his constant gaze upon the child named Danny, seated just a few rows ahead of us.

Danny always boasted about his prowess in sports and his aspirations to become a professional athlete. He was the only person who loudly conversed with girls and made inappropriate jokes, displaying foolish behavior and laughing boisterously. As we traveled, the road became increasingly uneven, and a white wooden arrow sign indicating "Cam

100 yards" caught everyone's attention. The scene before us transformed into a substantial barrier that separated the open skies from the damp dungeons.

Upon leaving our uncomfortable seats, we were escorted to the office where we were grouped together. In my group, there were Danny and the boy who sat next to me, as well as the twins and myself. The twins were indistinguishable from each other, as their bags, jackets, and trousers all matched in color, with the exception of one of them wearing trainers. Both Danny and the boy had attended the camp the previous year, whereas it was the first time for Jack, James, and myself. A room was assigned to accommodate our group.

Despite an unknown cause, we had a shortage of beds and ended up with only four instead of the planned five for our group. Nevertheless, despite arriving late, we opted to continue with our sleeping arrangements. The next morning turned out to be amazing as all of us woke up early to witness the sunrise in the southeast while relishing the refreshing and humid air. The pleasant sound of chirping birds evoked nostalgic memories of home.

Descending to the ground and stretching, I was flooded with thoughts of my parents, causing a longing for home. Nevertheless, we had no time to dwell on those emotions. Hastily, we changed into clean attire and proceeded to the hall where we acquired our food and found a seat.

Despite everything, what captivated my attention was my constant daydreaming about the boy seated beside me. Naturally, I had no desire to eat whatsoever. Once the trays were taken away, we rearranged the tables and benches against

the wall and started engaging in indoor relay races. It appeared that everyone was thoroughly relishing themselves. The shouts and cheers echoed throughout the high ceiling embellished with rafters. After a tiring and draining day, all of us eagerly anticipated some rest. As I joined everyone heading towards the exit, that very same boy unexpectedly emerged next to me.

Without uttering a word, he glanced at me before vanishing into the bustling crowd. Jack and James joined me as I made my way back to the cabin, and we proceeded together. As we leisurely walked, our conversation revolved around our newfound acquaintances, triggering thoughts of the young boy. It suddenly occurred to me that his name remained unknown to me, prompting me to inquire if the twins had encountered him. Their reaction was priceless - they froze in astonishment and regarded me as if I were in need of psychiatric assistance. Although no words escaped their lips, their laughter conveyed everything.

Their facial expression conveyed that I was hallucinating the boy, with no words spoken. Danny opened the cabin door and welcomed us, as the subtle scent in the room interrupted my thoughts of the mysterious boy. We gathered near Danny's bunk, where James suggested we tell ghost stories.

During the ghost stories, a sense of revolution unexpectedly engulfed me, emanating as an intense black air that made it difficult for me to breathe. Despite going unnoticed by the others, I felt an impending sense of doom. I desperately uttered words under my breath that went unheard by everyone else.

During the conversation between Danny and the twins, my fear and unease disappeared. The tale had reached its conclusion,

and it was now well past midnight, which was the designated time for lights out. As everyone dispersed from the circle and made their way to their bunks, Jack, who slept beneath me, summarized Danny's narrative. The story took place at this very camp last year, where a young boy died while he was in a dream state. According to Danny, this camp was haunted, and the boy had the ability to enter people's dreams and harm those who doubted his existence. "Be quiet, all of you!" Danny exclaimed with great intensity. A hush fell over the room.

This made me wonder about the identity of the boy and what he desired. It was becoming increasingly peculiar. Suddenly, my fear intensified once more. Just as darkness enveloped me, Danny's panicked screams filled the air - "help me, now, quick, he is in me" - as everyone turned towards him, it appeared that the twins were being drawn towards him. Although I couldn't fully comprehend all of Danny's words, it was evident that he had exclaimed, "The boy is in me."

As the twins and I approached Danny, he turned bright red and started laughing. It was strange behavior. He continued laughing and said, "If you guys...were serious, you should have seen your faces." Everyone stared at him intensely, causing Danny to become quiet and apologize. Angry, everyone slowly returned to their bunks. Danny calmed down and stated, "You guys were frightened, it's just a foolish tale anyway. The boy has been deceased for over a year now, and no one has died since then, so don't believe it, it's just"-"Danny, be quiet!" James interjected with annoyance.

The silence

remained, preventing me from sleeping. The feeling of dread persisted. Despite my inability to sleep, everyone else was now motionless. After a few hours, I observed Danny beginning to twitch. Initially, I disregarded it, but then he emitted a silent cry. He exhaled loudly and moved from side to side. His top bunk became covered in darkness, resembling a thick black veil. As I tried to get out of bed, I discovered myself paralyzed and unable to speak.

From the window, I witnessed a boy gazing outside, laughing softly, while Danny screamed "no," covering his ears in the dark room. He begged for something to depart from him as blood flowed out of his mouth like a waterfall. With a cough, he forcefully expelled a significant amount of pigment. Abruptly, I became aware of an unexpected scratching sound originating from the window.

Danny's soft cry made the figure vanish instantly, leaving me with a feeling of darkness. Yet, I felt relieved to find Danny safe and no traces of blood on his bed. It appeared that it was merely a terrifying dream, just as Danny had mentioned. As everyone started to wake up, the curtains were pulled back, allowing sunlight to flood in.

Jack screamed and pointed at the window, while James cried and touched his blood-covered face. The source of the blood was not James's own; it was coming from Danny's top bunk. On the bunk, a message carved in blood warned, "believe the story or you are next." Heavy drips from the window had formed a puddle but their meaning remained unclear. Was it possible that all of this was true? Or was it merely a

dream? The idea of someone being killed in a dream seemed impossible to accept; I didn't believe in the boy. The unanswered mystery left me wondering what would happen next. Yet, a persistent vision plagued my thoughts: I would be the next victim.
