We always felt that these terror attacks were only in tribal ,rural areas or on borders touching the lives of only the poor peasants, villagers and soldiers on the borders. this year they the Mumbai terror attacks touched the lives of the well to do Indian who felt safe in the posh areas of the urban cities and hotels. No body in their wildest dreams could have every predicted that a group of ten terrorist could hold an entire city to ransom.
On the night of 26 th November 10 terrorist armed with arms and amuntion entered Mumbai by boat and fired at random at people at some of the most luxurious and prestigious hotels The oberois and The taj that is a 100 year old building that not only is an iconic landmark of Mumbai but also India. These terrorist not only fired at people in the hotels
...destroyed the buildings ,held hostages but also engaged in a long ceasefire lasting nearly 3 days with the brave nsg commandos who risked their lives to protect people.
The government has identified these terrorist as Pakistani s who are part of a terrorist group operating from Pakistan called the Taliban which frequently changes its name. The government of India along with various governments from around the world are now putting Pakistan under pressure to act against these organizations that are not only responsible for terrorist attacks in India or across the world. Thses terrorists are brainwashed and told sometimes that they are fighting for Kashmir as they believe it belongs to Pakistan.
For different resons these vicious terrorist appeal to young people on grounds of religion
such as islam. I believe that poverty is no excuse for these terrorist to choose the path of terrorism. many people in the world are poor but they all do not become terrorists. The root cause for terrorism is illiteracy. As these young people are illiterate their minds are easily moulded by terrorist organizations that brainwash them into becoming fanatic about religion.
Young terrorists are performing inhuman and ghastly acts of terror. What they do not understand is that violence is not the answer there are other ways to voice opinions and raise demands taking innocent lives is not the the solution to their issues. The democratic path is ideal and thus education will ensure that people are wise enough to take the write decisions. We as citizens need to embibe the true values of secularism it is not enough to just have it as a part of our constituition .
We need to be alert and vigilant. We need to be honst as corruption at every level is one of the main causes for lack of security and ineffctive governance in India. We need to make use of our rights such as the rti and have open discussions ,debates and organize campaighn movements etc for all measures that we as citizens need to live a secure and healthy life. We need to be brave and united in this fight against terror though these terrorist can decide the way we can die but they cant decide the way we should live!
