PLAY Characters: Joe Keller, Chris Keller, Larry Keller (R.I.P), Mrs Keller, Anne, George, Steve Summary: Ann Deever was engaged to Larry, distraught when he dies while at war (everyone thinks he's MIA). Chris Keller loves her and she loves him but Mrs Keller is adamant that he'll come back. It is revealed that Joe screwed Ann's father over and sent him to prison - to keep the Keller family safe (and shipped a bunch of faulty airplane parts that possibly killed a lot of pilots). Chris is shocked. Ann reveals that Larry's death was possibly a suicide. Chris comes home and both he and Joe agree that Joe should fess up - Joe then shoots himself. Themes: Need to treat all humans as though they are your own family (pilots, Steve). Capitalistic society can sometimes drive people to be immoral and irrational.

POEM Summary:A boy/man goes down to his water trough for a drink one afternoon and watches as a potentially poisonous snake peacefully hangs about and drinks water. He does nothing (and in fact admires the snake) till the snake turns to leave and then throws a log at it and regrets it immediately. Themes: People react to things they are ignorant about with fear or violence. The conflict between what we are taught by society and our internal feelings. Id/superego.
