Islam originated in the middle east and then spread outwards into Africa and Asia. The Middle East

Muhammad began teaching in the Arabian Peninsula then left after angering pagan leaders in 622 AD. Islam began to spread w/ his migration. The Islamic Calendar begins with this event, known as the Hijra. Muhammad returns and defeats the Meccan at Badr in 624 AD. In 630 AD Muhammad returns and conquers Mecca.

They conquered a lot of territory and converted many people

First came with Arab merchants and conquerors and then with the Maluks. They ruled the first Muslim, Indian Empire. Most Indians were Hindu which cause many conflicts for centuries.
