Cancer of the esphagus

- Accounts for 1% of all cancers in the US - Appro. 18,170 cases reported each year - Men are 3 - 4 times affects verses women - Most case effect patients 55 - 85 yrs - Usually diagnosed an advanced stages - Is nearly a uniformly fatal disease - 15,500 death rate each yr - Prominent in N.
