people contribute to managing and reducing the disaster risks associated with changes. Objectives: 1 . To increase the awareness and capacity of children and communities on disaster risk and climate changes, so they can facilitate the child centered disaster risk reduction process. 2. To develop and Implement locally appropriate climate solutions on disaster preparedness and risk reduction.

3. To advocate for the Inclusion of good practices and learning from the program approach in local district and/or national overspent and regional process.

It is working based on community based approach. We the students of TIMID, with 4 community immobilizers went through the project area to know child protection programs by plan.

The children and youths of the slum areas of Dhal are being trained to confront disaster risks related with fire, earthquakes and water logging. My study area was Knob slum where I observed and interviewed a child. The Child: The name of the child is not published here because of privacy. She is 15 years old. She has 2 brothers and 1 sister. Her father does not live with them as he married another woman.

The child with her mother and siblings live In a tin shaded room In nab slum area. She passed standard 8 from a SEEPS enlisted school and after that she could not continue her study because of poverty and family responsibilities. There is a sewing machine which was provided by Brace. She is trying to learn sewing clothes, and also has to do some other cleansing works in those houses. That is why the 15 years old child has to take care of her younger brothers and sisters.

Learning from

Plans Intervention: When asked, she told that she knows about child rights from plan. She knew about 4 types of right.

According to her comments, she is being deprived of many more rights along with these four. She share these learning from Plan Intervention with her mother but not with the siblings.

She aspires for more education as she is being inspired by her friends who are going school. From Plans invention, she has also learned how to prepared and response in case of fire hazard and earthquakes. She knows what to do theoretically, but in many cases do not have the necessary logistic supports. For example, she knows that for disaster preparedness, the family needs to pep a hammer and flute.

She does not have either. The trainings taught her to write and keep the phone number of fire dept in her house. But, it was observed that, she does not have the number. The child does not have any idea regarding the risks associated with water logging. Daily protection issues: Her mother said that, they feel unprotected against the young males of the slum.

She is very unwilling to let the child move around the area because of this fear. Protection issues they may face in the event of hazard: Exit Route - The slum is a very crowded and has narrow paths.

In the event of a izard, there is high risk of stamping and bottleneck. Heavy materials are placed on high places - There is risk of being injured due to these heavy materials in the event of an earthquake. Conclusion: Plans intervention has penetrated a large portion of Dacha slums.

The intervention has been able to create some awareness of child rights among the marginalia children of the urban area It seems that despite being knowledgeable about risk issues, many families do not have/care about necessary logistic support. The child knows about the rights, but does not know what these rights actually mean.
