-Ewells do not deserve to be at the top of the caste system only because they are a founding family and they are more wealthy than the cunninghams-Respect can’t be demanded, it has to be earned

-Jem makes the adult decision to involve Atticus in Dill’s appearance in Maycomb-shows how he is growing up and coming of age
-Scout finds out that the father of walter Cunningham is part of a racist crowd.

-Dill realizes how cruel people can actually be and how people can be hypocrites

-When Reverend Sykes tells Jem not to be so confident, his allusion becomes shattered, his hope is crushed and he now has a potential for ignorance.

-Jem realizes that the people of maycomb are motivated by their own point of view, even if its hidden from the public-this provides him with a new awareness and potential for ignorance
